Greetings all,
Less than a year ago, I sold my American Series Tele (major, major dumb thing to do, btw). I took the money and bought a new Fender Deluxe Nashville Tele. It was a very nice guitar. The neck, however, was a bit on the light side; from a girth perspective (modern C shape). I traded it to a good forum member; for his Fender FSR HSS Strat. It was a very very nice Strat. It wasn't long though, before I remember why I don't play Strats. I can't get along with the body contours. I guess I've been playing Teles too long. I just traded the Strat to another forum member; for his Deluxe Nashville Tele. I did my own mods and am very happy with the results. Here's a pic.
I got the parchment guard from Guitar Fetish. The only drawback is that they don't put the shielding tape on the underside and there's a bit of static. That goes away in time though. Even though I like the S/S/S config with 3-way switch and mini-toggle (when in the down position, it adds the middle pickup to whatever is selected on the 3-way switch), I love the look of a standard Telecaster. My trade came with a double-wafer superswitch. With that, I could begin the arduous task of the Jerry Donahue modification. Hmmmmm, who knows.....
Right now, I'm content with it the way it is.
