I've always wanted a Martin... so now I'm here, just ordered one! :D

Some don't like the DX1's for the HPL back and sides and the Stratabond neck. I don't see a problem with it and decided to give it a try! Bulletproof materials they say... and at the same time it has the solid spruce which doesn''t have much of a finish on it, so I don't need to "thin-skin" this one ;) :D

In the cold winters to warm summers climate with humidity changes here in Finland this guitar seems like a killer alternative as these "new" materials aren't as prone to climate changes!

Over at the UMGF (Martin Guitar forum) even guys who own real beauties like HD28V's and such super guitars seem to praise the quality to price ratio of this Martin and also mention that it has that Martin sound. And I have to say that I trust their opinion when it comes to Martins!

I just can't leave anything alone though.. so some small mods will be done, a little "pre-war styling":

- Open back Grover Sta-Tite tuners
- Greven 30's style pickguard
- Polishing the satin finish to gloss
- Bone bridge pins
- Bone saddle
- And in the future maybe a K&K Mini Western pickup system...

I'll be sure to post pics when I get it, don't worry ;)

Re: My new acoustic is ordered!

Looks really good!! *sight* I need a good acoustic, too. Looking foward to your mod-report :)

Re: My new acoustic is ordered!

Yeah, I'm really excited! I recently sold my 70's Pro Martin (MIJ D-28 replica) as the frets started wearing out. I had to decide wheter to try to find someone round here that could refret or buy something new!

I decided to upgrade to a real Martin at the same time :)

Re: My new acoustic is ordered!

congrats. I'm in the process of getting my acoustic (Taylor 114 Grand Auditorium) that I've been waiting for my local shop to get more in; they sold the only one they had while I was on vacation :(.

I looked at that same Martin X-series at the Koa and 000-style one. I liked the Koa, but none of the rest of 'em did it for me

Re: My new acoustic is ordered!

I have one of the 000 style X-series guitars, and I absolutely love it, it sounds and plays fantastic! Its the same thing, stratabond neck, laminated back and sides but a solid spruce top. What surprised me is when I registered the serial number online, a few weeks later they mailed me a Martin owners certificate with my name, the model, and the serial number of my guitar listed, for my buying of a Martin during their 175th anniversary! It's nothing fancy, but a nice touch considering I bought the cheapest Martin available.

Re: My new acoustic is ordered!

So... when is it gonna get really reliced? :D

Re: My new acoustic is ordered!

Looks sharp, man. Sounds like a good fit for where you are, climate-wise.

Re: My new acoustic is ordered!

FenderFan79, Great to hear! And a certificate is really cool... I'll make sure to register mine as well when I get it. Hopefully they'll send me one as well :)

LSP, nah, I think I'm gonna leave this as it is... I don't dear to relic it ;) But a little vintage mods as I wrote... open back tuners and a 30's greven guard. and then time and playing get to do the relicing :D

Stringer, Yeah I figured it should be a really good alternative, climate-wise. Hopefully it'll sounds rediculously good as well!
