I must say this is my first amp. I was looking for something portable, maybe like a Smokey, but my music store didn't stock antything of the kind and there are somethings they can't order. They used to have the mini Marshal but that is no longer sent to Portugal.
They did have an Eko k-100. It had been sitting in their back room for 10 years, and it looked it, spyder webs and all. Its a small amp 20x27x10 and can be plugged to the wall or use 6 batteries (the cable that connects the battery holder is actually cut from all the time it was stored).
So we plugged it in, and despite the fact that I know nothing of amps, I liked it, we used a Squier Afinity Strat to test it. Not bad for 30€ (more or less the same thing in dollars) a lot of volume for its size, simple as I like it, cool loo (I like it), and portability.
From what I gather this has to be solid state, it has volume, tone and tube (distortion) controls.
My only pickup equiped guitar is my Yamaha apx5a (acoustic), so when I got home I plugged it in and it was cool, I read somewhere that solid state actually works best with acoustics.
So here's the thing, does anyone know anything about it (problems, strong suits, what it can do what it can't). Can anyone give me some recommendations, I may have too open it, there's something rattling inside (is this normal?) and I'll have the screws tightenend All I know is that its an Italian brand.
Can somebody also recomend me some settings for the controls and how to work the volume and eq on the guitar to get some cool tones. Essentially I'm looking for some guidelines here.
I always had the idea of placing a electric pu in a feedback cover and plug it to an amp, I'll guess I'll try that soon.
I may post pictures latter today or tomorow if anybodys interrested.
