So I've had these nice old Rola greenbacks from the '70's sitting in a Marshall cab for a while now, and I've wanted a 212 and decided to get one made by Labros of Achillies Amps because I'd heard great things about him...well, needless to say this cab is a gem!
For starters I never really believed those people who said that a good 212 just feels and sounds so much better than a good 412...I thought "as if...more speakers = bigger = louder = better"...well, I stand corrected! Could be something to do with the superior quality of this cab compared to a Marshall, but it just sounds heaps better I couldn't believe the difference.
It's in emerald green (to match my Komet...and what a great match it is) and has been made with an optional closed or open back, just by having an extra section cut out which screws in really neatly if you want to close it and comes off if you want it open. So far I haven't even had it open because it sounded so good as it was I just kept playing it, although I did buy it to be an open back cab. You can see the plate in the pics below.
And like I said, two nicely worn in '70's Rola Greenbacks are in it which just sound beautiful!
And the grillcloth is the Marshall cane which is the basketweave stuff...apparently it's a bit of a bitch to work with :bad:
The guy who made this is the guy starting this Achillies company, and it is looking very promising as a fantastic Australian amp and cabinet line...very impressed folks! The craftsmenship on the cabinet is like that on my Komet :biglaugh: He's local too which is an even bigger bonus...well, more local than the states :butkick:
