My new G&L totally kicks butt. 10 outta 10

Anytime you buy a guitar on Ebay, you run the risk of it not being as good as expected, or having a neck or tone you don't dig. NOT THIS TIME.
The G&L Legacy Deluxe I just got is a winner. Nice beefy C shaped neck that fits like a glove....birdseye too! Nice resonant body and stock US Duncans.
Even the clear binding shows the flame. I still can't believe I got this $1400 guitar for $750. I have a feeling it'll be an everyday player for years.

I always enjoy hearing about someone's satisfaction with their gear. I believe G&L is one of the last sizable guitar companies who hasn't gone to CNC manufacturing yet, right?

Seriously, you guys, G&L kicks the Fender. I'm still drooling over my ASAT Special, which I also got for $750, used. I can't think of anything better than a G&L.

Spread the love, brah

they are really nice - why are you selling it for only 750?

As soon as I get home, I'm gonna change the strings and work on the setup a bit, but this is another killer G&L I've owned. The Invader I'm selling for $750 is also a killer one, but I'm just selling it to pay for this one. The G&L Z-3 I had was a dud, so I probably played that one a few times then sold it. The Invader and Legacy Deluxe are among the best bolt on guitars I've owned. This guitar is practically what my 'signature guitar' would be, if G&L built me one. The electronics are laid out like a Fender, but the tone controls are actually a passive bass and treble control. The volume pulls up to split the JB, and it doesn't have one of those funky metal nuts like Fender Deluxe's. It also has regular tuners, not Sperzels or vintage, which makes me happy. The neck is just amazing on it. Feels a lot like a Grosh, since it really fills my hand.....a little beefier than an American Std strat. The only thing I woulda done, if I designed it would be to have a hardtail, not a trem, but I'm going to put a wood block in it, as soon as I start setting it up perfectly. It plays great now, but after I'm done with it, it'll play like a Suhr. I highly recommend this model! I almost bought a Fender Custom Shop Showmaster, and now I'm glad I didn't.

If you ever decide to get rid of that Schecter tele.......letta me know :)

Re: My new G&L totally kicks butt. 10 outta 10

I am scoping G&L right now also. I need to get a strat. How are the stock single coils like on most G&L's. I would rather not replace them if I had too. I hear they are quite impressive though for stock.

Whats better G&L or MIJ Fender?

G&L by FAR!!

G&L also have a MIJ series, which are also better, IMO. They don't skimp on the pickups or hardware

G&L's come with either US Duncans and/or G&L pickups, which were the last pickups Leo Fender designed, so uh yeah, they're good. ha ha

I spent 4 hours tonight, swapping the JB out for an overwound Custom 5, reslotting the nut, truss rod, action, adding a spring, and intonating it.
I was going to pull my Surfers out of another guitar, but realized I'd have to drill out the ends, so I opted to give the Alnico 5 (formvar wire) G&L singles a chance.
The C-5 sounds really good, although I may keep swapping pickups till I nail the perfect one. I'll just leave the G&L singles in there for now, since they sound good enough. My final choice may be a Custom Custom tremspaced and 2 Surfers for this guitar.

sounds like an awesome guitar Jonesy!!!

i'd love to have an ASAT of some sort...one of these days

Re: My new G&L totally kicks butt. 10 outta 10

hoss one of these days you will have one. i have a tele to end all teles, but you will have a killer tele in while too if i am not mistaken. pm me about getting together and i will bring my tele with me.

Joneser, that is a killer guitar. how do the stock singles sound with that c5?

Re: My new G&L totally kicks butt. 10 outta 10

I played that thing till 2 AM last night, after dialing it in with a perfect setup. It's a perfect guitar for me. The string height off the body is similar to a Tele, so my fingerpicking style works perfect on it, plus it has a strat shape and the ability to sound Gibson-like. That neck is what made me decide to make it my new mainplayer, along with my honeyflame Paul. A perfect duo. It's got a neck that feels like a LP 59 profile. It sustains much better than most bolt-ons I've had.

Sweet!

Next time I'm down at the shop that sells G&L's I'll see if they have an ivader to test out... every G&L guitar I've seen being played has supremely fat tone (even from singles) so I'm looking forward to a trial run.
