My new Strat... Flash.

Well, I have been on a guitar buying thing lately. Have gotten 5 new guitars in one month. Bought this right before christmas, but havent flashed it yet.

I tried many Strats, custom shops etc. But this cheap little buggah just out played them all. Rids face when he heard it acoustically was worth it all. We both agreed that it a good acoustic guitar as well, lol :D

Well, its a Classic Player 60s Strat. Basically a 60s Strat style with the new 2point style trem, 9,5 or 12" neck radius, hotter pickups, medium-jumbo frets and a bit more I dont remember (Somebody wanna chime in?)

It had Fender Custom '69s in it, but those were the only thing I didnt like about it.

But I knew what I wanted, a 70s style rock-Strat tone, kinda Blackmore-ish on steroids. So we agreed on a DiMarzio FS-1 for all the positions, but unfortunately, they only had one, so it got in the bridge, and Rid had a Fender A5 single for the middle position (I dont use that one anyway). The neck was a different matter though, but I suggested a Area '58 from DiMarzio, and Rid knew what I liked so he said go for it. And it was splendid, Rid actually talked nice about DiMarzios ;)

I love this guitar, and it is up there with my Nightswan. Its the only Strat I have REALLY bonded with. Everything is perfect on it.

Heres a picture from some jamming I did last night with my JCM800 and my new Plexitone (Thanks Rid) this is old style rock sound for sure!

Re: My new Strat... Flash.

Nope, I just have a good job, make lots of money and save up!

Re: My new Strat... Flash.

That's awsome man. I've been gasing for a white strat that I can load with hot pups, to balance my mellow black strat.

Nice looking axe, play it a lot.

Re: My new Strat... Flash.

Yeah, I really love the 50's and 60's strats. I've not gotten to play the 70's yet, but i'd like to. I've liked the 50's the most, aside from the V neck. It's cool how each decade has it's own style neck.

Re: My new Strat... Flash.

Sick!! That sounds like and looks like an awesome Classic Rock Strat set-up. I swear, there's a Fender Strat for EVERY purpose, though most of them, no matter the electronic set-up can pull off MANY different tones for different styles. Part of the reason why I love them so much. Though lately my Tele's been getting more attention.

Thanks :)

For once, we do agree :D Even though I dont like Teles, unless they say Kramer on the headstock and have two humbuckers and a Floyd. :D

But yeah the awesome thing about this pickup set, is the versatility. I can do blues, rock, metal (Real mens metal, not this low-tuned stuff), jazz, funk etc and still get a good tone out of it :)

Re: My new Strat... Flash.

What did you do with the 69s? Are you going to sell them maybe?

Dano

I traded them for Rids Peavey Wolfgang SE, so I dont have them :)

Thanks guys for all the nice comments, I like this guitar alot :)

Thespricket --> Yeah, its a nice little feature. I have found after 4 Strats, that C-shape with a 60s thickness is what I prefer. V-shapes etc, just dont fit with my hand. :)

Re: My new Strat... Flash.

Nice! I'd really like another strat, something with more than vintage singles. What are the FS1s like?

Re: My new Strat... Flash.

...believe it or not, I don't really hate it. I'll hate it less if it's sonic blue (which it sorta looks like) rather than white (which I think it is, but can't quite tell). Well, I guess it's probably the closest you can get to my taste without either of us cringing anyway :D

...As it doesn't quite sound like you're going to rip it apart for humbuckers, NOW do you want to vote for that forum single? :D

It is indeed Sonic Blue! :D

I am not gonna put humbuckers in it, but I still vote for a 80s bucker ;) Naah I dunno. I dont want yet another humbucker like the Crazy 8, you know a tightbucker kinda thing.

Johtosotku --> The FS-1 is a beefed up and high output vintage single coil. A bit fatter, ballsier and such than a regular strat pickup.

Re: My new Strat... Flash.

Too bad these things have a C shaped neck.

Very lovely guitar, Axl.
