My newly modded amp just crapped out

[Reckless Abandon]

It worked fine yesterday. To day When I turned the standby off to play it gave little sound. It sounds like it does when I hit a not and turn on standby, that fuzzy weak dying sound.

What is wrong? It is a modded JCM 800.

IT was voodoo $50 in shipping away. It has worked fine for over a week. Could it be tubes?

Get on the phone with Trace ASAP....He is a personal friend of mine and stands 100% behind his work...Probably not related to Trace's mods,but you should make the call and let Trace work you through it..

if it's from voodoo, just give them a call and see what happens. I'm sure they will help you out. I'm lucky because they are a little over an hour's drive from me, I wouldn't have to ship anything, one day I'm going to drive out there and check them out.

It sounded awesome so I doubt they did anything wrong. I have never been happier playing. I will call them monday. If I have to send it for repairs I will ship it back. On the website the warranty said to ship it back. But I will call first.

I'd swap out a preamp tube(s) first, but that's just me ... Trace might want to know the particulars up front before doing anything, especially since it's under warranty ... shipping might have wrecked a tube.

Trace seems like a great guy from what I've see him post online. I'd try new tubes first, and if that doesn't work, give him a call.

yes but he will take a month to fix it.

We had it fixed the problem very quickly and it was a stock resistor that had failed. Although it had nothing to do with the mods we repaired the amp for free and also added some extra mods (add on Bottom control, etc.) free of charge.
