My pickups keep messing up. Help me out

Hey, I'm selling my les paul faded and there is only one problem. Every once in a while if I'm playing on the bridge pickup and switch to the neck pickup while using distortion the neck pickup will lose volume and go completely clean, and if I hit the strings hard it goes back to normal or if I switch to the middle of the selector switch for 1/2 a second and switch back it stops? Does anyone know what the problem is? I don't want to have to explain this stupid problem to someone whos buying it and look like an idiot.

Even before I saw your answer, that's what I concluded.

In other words, ledzepp29, we're batting two for two that this is the problem.

But, look into the condition of output jack just for the sake of troubleshooting.
