My singing requires critical analysis!

Re: My singing requires critical analysis!

Way too much hissing in that clip.

I wasn't expecting the Aussie accent so that made me laugh!

The singing itself wasn't too bad... You could be a bit more expressive in the 'Blackbird fly' bits. You just cut off suddenly, rather than continuing the note.

Slightly out of tune in other bits.

But great effort! That's a hard song to sing and play!

Re: My singing requires critical analysis!

Cheers....yeah i deadset cant sing properly without the accent, sorry!!

Just listened to the original and i realised he plays it muuuuuch slower.....that mite give me enough time to hit those high notes in the chorus

Re: My singing requires critical analysis!

I dig it bro. There were some points you sounded like you were nervous or something which made your voice shakey. I have always wandered how Europeans were able to sing without their accent coming across. Your Aussie accent comes across in your singing though which is cool to me. Not a bad thing at all.

Thats a cool little tune and a neat guitar song as well.

hi
You have a beautiful voice, keep on singing and you will get there:)
By the way,the singer in my band didn`t even know he had a voice 18 months ago.
Now he`s singing like a bird.........hehe

I've decided that one day i want to get my own one man show happening....so i'd better get some vocals!

I can now fully appreciate how hard it is to play and sing at the same time....this took sooo many takes to get half decent.

Have at it, and dont spare the criticisms:

Ps. Sorry bout the background noise

Okay, I have experience here, I have worked with singers from the Boston Symphony and some others who have very high profile gigs and I'm also taking lessons from an Opera pro (I have my own set of problems!) so I can help a little.

The tone of your voice which has to do with your body and head build is fine but you should get a teacher pronto. You're not supporting the notes and they are mostly flat which is a problem for sure, your style at the moment is more talk singing than singing in the traditional sense which is neither here nor there but I think that comes from not having the breath to actually sing the words. If you can't afford a teacher there are some good CD/Books available.

Re: My singing requires critical analysis!

Alright so I gave it a listen. Not bad for a starting effort into singing. With practice, you could turn into a decent vocalist. Definitely pitch issues but that is to be expected. Nobody starts out singing perfectly.....

now for the reason I gave a listen...I love australian accents, I'm fascinated by them. Living where I do we get a lot of foreign tourism for the blues and I meet a lot of people from many places and I pick up their accents, and sometimes even retain them. Australian is one that I picked up and kept and use a lot and my girlfriend asks me to speak in it all the time (I think she prefers the accent to my real voice..) I had to let her hear your singing and she has decided she loves your voice. So, you've got the american girl audience going on. Fix the pitch issues, and you're a hit waiting to happen. :)

Definate potential man, keep at it! Some fine tuning and and you'll be ready to roll. CapoFirstFret is right too; the American chicks will be all over you. Lucky S.O.B.:usa1:

Re: My singing requires critical analysis!

slow the song down and you will do a lot better. great job...but thats coming from somone who really cant sing....perhaps ill do a snipet of my singing just so you can be encouraged by my miserable attempt.

Re: My singing requires critical analysis!

accents are very hot and that was definately cute, you can feel honored i listened to it twice. it was nice, as the boston symphony guy said it was a little flat but as the others said youve got potential. i liked it. good job.

Re: My singing requires critical analysis!

use vibrato when holding notes otherwise they come out flat

I wish I had the brit accent like that

your not singing with your vocal cavity. I used to play & sing that song 7 yrs back; do you know the history of the song? That helps to know when you are singing a cover.

Its hard to give any other advice based on that one song but it is a good start though...for a 1 man show you gotta start developing your own sound though but covers do get the chicks still imo
