My swansong of Warmoth's les pauls

A month ago news arrived to us all that warmoth would stop manufacturing les pauls. Since they are my personal supplier so to say, I started wondering who should deliver fresh stashes of lesters. Not g!bs0n, thats for sure ;)

I made the capital mistake of going through the showcase and this caught my eye.

So I bought that one. With a nice rosewood neck to match. Ebony board, 22 frets and trapezoid inlay.

This one will get a set of fuglybuckers.

But 2 days ago a friend teased me about not having enough guitars especially with 2 more humbuckers on the way. Zephyr silver set... and he showed me this (the jerk ;) )

But with this finish. Slightly washed purple with a transparant purple back.

The neck will be the same, albeit a hair thinner. Both guitars will 9 chrome hardware . A swansong should not have the celebratory gold, but the silver, suited for the Sadness of a funeral. ;)
l know l Complained about insufficient funds, but l forgot that l had yet to receive my share of the profits of the Company I work for.

lf all goes well, l will get # 22 in January. That one will simply go with a light honeyburst and 2 pickups, like a ' 59 but (for me) nicer.

PS. Remember that PRS single 2001? Hate it ! it is too clean and hifi and without character to me. l am going to trade it with a friend for a ghost builded R9 .

Honestly I'm much more interested that someone is getting the Zephyrs. You must give us the scoop when they come in.

Re: My swansong of Warmoth's les pauls

Same here ive been curious as to how those zephyrs sound especially for close to a $1,000.00. Are they really worth the same amount i could get a couple guitars for?

Re: My swansong of Warmoth's les pauls

Zephyrs?!!
The company must have done well indeed!
I'll be on the edge of my seat waiting for some clips & reviews
Congrats!

Why are they stopping the manufacture of Les Pauls? Not selling enough? Legal issues?

Because gibson is so afraid about warmoths quality that they threatened to sue the hell out of them. Too bad warmoth aint got the legal weight of prs. Gibson knows they'd loose.

Really thats something I knew all along. I just gave the real reason. Not the PR talk.

Warmoth, without question, infringed on Gibson trademarks for years; specifically the Gibson headstock shape. The body shape is a bit of a grey area, but I suspect Warmoth took a "better safe than sorry" approach there.

In any case, I doubt Gibson is "afraid" of losing much business to a bolt-on manufacturer, regardless of quality. This is a simple case of them defending their trademark, as is the right of any business.

Speaking as the owner of a Warmoth LP, it's a cool guitar, but I really don't think Gibson has much to be afraid of in terms of competition. True Les Paul fans won't be happy with one due to the many fundamental differences, and anyone else who buys one would never have bought a Gibson in the first place (myself included).

I completely agree.

Re: My swansong of Warmoth's les pauls

The legal issues have been debated extensively. Too bored to go deeper into that subject.

Re: My swansong of Warmoth's les pauls
