My Warmoth SG body arrived!

It's pretty cool. Mahogany SG body, routed for 2 P-90s (I've already got a P901n and a P902b sitting in my room) contoured heel, TOM bridge, and standard SG configuration. I'm pretty stoked. I picked up a Showcase neck with a gorgeous Pau Ferro board that'll be another couple weeks. The body is a nice piece of wood, but certainly heavier than I expected. It's an SG shape, but b/c it's a bolt on it's a lot thicker than a Gibby (it's 1.75"). Not bad looking wood, but not outstanding either. It's worthy of a transparent finish, but it wouldn't be a sin to solid color it, either.

ANYWAY, I'm sitting here trying to think of colors. I'm fairly set on a copper to bronze color with a metal flake... I think that'd look pretty killer. But I also got to thinking, what if I had it sprayed with several colors of metal flake over the copper? What do you think? Coppertone with silver and blue metal flake? That could really pop.

And one question for the painters out there. I'm not looking for exact quotes, but what should I expect to shell out for a paint job? It would include final prep, grain filler, primer, color coats, metal flake coats, and clear coats.

An interesting look would be to paint the bevels a different color, assuming it has them.

I thought that metallics were all basically shot the same - that is, a bed of aluminum flakes, with a color coat over, then clear coats after

Metalflake finishes look great when done properly, I would stick with that idea.
