How a guitar feels and plays is the most important thing. You can always tweak how it sounds.

I tried.. really tried.. a few different guitars this year. I kept coming back to what felt comfortable to play, even if they were a good deal cheaper and not as "nice" as the others.

Yup. It's taken me awhile to figure it out, but I've finally come to the realization that having two or three "good" guitars trumps a harem of "cheap" guitars. There will be some stuff on the chopping block very soon. ;)

Oh no, you misunderstood. I was buying "nicer" guitars and went back to cheap ones that felt more comfortable.

Cort is underrated, imho. My Epiphone Les Paul Custom was built in the Cort factory over in Korea, and they did a damn good job.

Quick update: The PG's trump the ergonomics. (And the ergonomics weren't "bad" per se.) I simply "dialed in" the strap, and got this thing balanced out nicely. I've been sitting here this afternoon just noodlin' on this thang, and I believe she's a keeper. These PG's sound amazing. The bridge has just enough "twang" to be almost Tele-ish, but full bodied Tele-ish. The neck is sweet and smooth.

Yup. I'm leavin' this one alone. It just took her a bit longer to warm up to me.

Very nice guitar! I've seen a few Corts that I've really liked the look of lately...may have to look into this further :headbang:

Glad you got it figured out. I lol'd at the earlier post where you were concerned about a PG set in "all that mahogany" :)

Fwiw, I couldn't agree more about several good ones vs the harem of cheapies.

For me, it came in a trip to GC a few weeks ago after buying that MIA Strat. I looked at the stuff I used to check out, the $200-600 wall, but didn't feel like playing anything.

Now, that's not to say I won't grab another MIA Peavey Predator for under $100 sometime, provided the build quality is as good as the one I have. I just can't see spending any real money on lesser stuff anymore.

The Roadhouse Strat that I got from Butch S. did it for me. But I still keep my eye out for MIA Peavey's. They still fly under the radar.

The local Music Go Round had a Peavey Reactor, the Tele model for $110 last year. Shame I missed it.

My luthier friend just finished doing the fret level/set-up on my T-30. Picking it up tomorrow. She sounds amazing.

Those are so weird and cool. Too bad the T series seems to be getting more expensive. I saw a bass recently for over $400.

My first electric was a tobacco burst double humbucker Cort back in the early 80's. It had a nice finish, two uncovered hb's with a three way and two volumes/two tones. I think it was a bolt on neck with 22 frets and a double cutaway. The strap mounts kept stripping out, that plus having seen the cavity when the pickups were out of it (yes, I swapped them), lead me to surmise that the body was made of fibreboard. Still, it held tune and played well when I was trying to play Rush etc. I can only imagine that their quality for the money spent, has improved over the years. I'll be keeping my eyes open for one now.

I'm just reviving this thread because it's Friday. I've got the day off. (After working 60-hour weeks for the last few months.) I've got the charcoal going in the grill. I've got the beers chillin' in the cooler. My wife is out shopping. And I'm spankin' the hell out of this thing. Thanks partially to forum bro Lazarus for lending me his PCE Aluminum Falcon II. Wow! Sweet, sweet pedal.

It's a nice day. :)
