NAD, it's a Splawn!

Re: NAD, it's a Splawn!

Had a nice little surprise this morning whe I decided to verify what the previous owner said about the speakers. He told me that they were Splawn Small Blocks, but when I opened it up I found a pair of Eminence Governors and a pair of Man O Wars in an X pattern. The same speakers I've been wanting to try! According to the tag stapled inside they're original equipment.

From what I remember that combination of Eminence speakers is what Scott Splawn used to recommend before they got the Small/Big Blocks made and what he used to put as stock in the older Splawn cabs, as you've just discovered yourself :)

That's 1 of several pairings I'm thinking of for my oversized 2x12 cab to go with my Splawn, so I'm interested to hear how you get on with it as time goes on.

I have ran both my Splawn and my Marshall JVM through all three of my current 4x12s, and they both sound best through the Splawn cab. The other two cabs are an old Carvin angled cab with Eminence built Carvin BR12s (everything sounds like dog**** through these speakers), and an Avatar Traditional 4x12 with Eminence Swamp Thangs and Texas Heats in an X pattern (I like these speakers, but I like the Governor/Man O War combo better). I haven't tried my Mesa Recto through the Splawn cab yet, though.
