Sounded even better than I recalled :naughty:

With active EQ, is it best to start with everything on 1, or with everything at 12oclock like a passive EQ?

Start with everything at noon like you normally would; it's really not THAT different but the controls interact with eachother more than on a passive EQ stack.

The JSX is still one of my favorite amps, period. Can't wait to have another one in the stable later this year.

Think of the dial as an integer line, where halfway on the dial is zero on an integer line. Active eq's boost and cut freq's, where passive eq's only cut freq's.

For added bonus jsx fun, put some JJ KT77's in that sum'***** and enjoy the chunkathunk you get in the low end. I did that earlier this year and I fell in love with my amp all over again. I was poised to sell it or trade but I dunno now, it really is a monster with these tubes. Congrats on the new head, it's my favorite high gain amp by far.

I also use a small jumper cable in the effects loop and turn up the send and return dials. The amp gets bigger, louder.
(Works best without anything in the loop)

I used to do just this with my old one for a solo boost.

I just sold my second one a few months ago.....seriously regretting it now. I did the same thing with the chrome S on my first one. I ditched it and covered it in a salt n pepper cloth with white piping to match my cab that I had at the time.

Really good amp. Though, with mine I changed the clean to resemble the XXX, which I thought had a chimier clean tone.
