NAD: Laney Ironheart Studio

I got this as a temporary solution as I'm moving into a more restrictive environment for a few months to save a deposit
.
So far I'm really enjoying it.

It sounds great both direct & with impulses and incredible into my Legend loaded Roadkill Cab.

It isn't a patch on the SLO but nothing really is.

You're living the Amplifier High Life -- SLO, Mesa, Ironheart! :)

What does the Dynamics control do? And am I correct in assuming that the reverb is digital?

Last, but not least -- does it come with rack ears??

The dynamics control should really be called focus. It changes how controlled the frequency response is. It goes from very tight and modern to a more open vintage feel.

And yes the reverb is digital and its not too bad feel & depthwise.

And finally yes it comes with rack ears too.

Looks cool, interested to hear what you think of it when you've had more play time on it.

Me too, especially as my own amp search came to nought over the Christmas break. Options are still open, though I think I've crossed Tubemeisters and the JVM1 off the list now.

I should hopefully have some clips up later today.

What kind of features are you looking for?

Re: NAD: Laney Ironheart Studio

nice! this was one of the top contenders on my last amp purchase, but I ended up crossing it off cuz of the lack of availability.

How's it do for marshally tones? Everything I heard/read suggested it was a very dark sounding (almost recto like) amp.

It is fairly dark with the tone control set to 0 but it brightens up fairly well. I haven't really been aiming for any particular tones so far but i'll see what I can come up with.

It does nail King Diamond though and I believe Andy used Marshalls a lot in the early days.

Re: NAD: Laney Ironheart Studio

Another thing worth mentioning is that it came with respectable valves even if some aren't to my taste it's better than unbranded junk.

It has
1x JJ ecc83s
2x Ruby 12ax7HG ( Shaguang 9th gen I believe)
2x Ruby EL84

Re: NAD: Laney Ironheart Studio

Interesting pick-up. I thought about these, but I read the versatility was severely lacking. Still could be convinced to buy the sixty watter one day if that's not true. Keep us posted on the tones!

Re: NAD: Laney Ironheart Studio

Nice! I was looking really hard at the little 15 watt head version last week ...but I ended up getting a Randall T2-HL head (the smaller 100 watt version). Still interested to hear some clips/what you think of it. The small size of those things makes them pretty affordable to have shipped here (maybe some time in the future haha. Had to forgo the T2C Combo version of that Randall when the seller told me it would cost $320 to ship :p )

Re: NAD: Laney Ironheart Studio

How are the cleans on it? I'm looking for a new amp and this along with the Engl Ironball and Mesa Boogie Rectoverb 25 (both very expensve relative to the Laney) are on my short list...

I haven't had a chance to record yet but this video shows a lot of what it's capable of.

This is di too with the emulation on it sounds better with a cab or impulses.

Re: NAD: Laney Ironheart Studio

I've been looking into this amp today and have a couple questions. Congrats on a great amp, btw!

What kind of relays doee this amp have? Latching or non-latching? I as because I would eventually want to intigrate it with a TC Electronic G System.

Also, how loud can it get? Will it keep up in a band situation? I've read mixed opinions on this one.
