NAD!!! Marshall 2203!!!!!!!

Finally got this b!$!h in!!! Got the tubes in, and fired her up!!

LOUD AS FAK!!!! But sound great!!! Have a really chimey, nice clean on the low input and a nice roar boosted on the high input!! So far boosting with the tscreamer, it does nice. But I'm really wanting to get another cab and get away from the V30s. It is a bit bright with those compared to the Mesa. But I am loving it! Gonna pick up set of tubes for it in the next week! But it did come with 6550 in the power section..

Awesome. Congrats!

Yeah I like v30s with some Marshalls, but a 2203 is not one of them.

Highly reccomend celestion 65/creamback or equivalent.

If a JCM800 were a pooch, it would be a rottweiler with titanium teeth.

Classic amp; bit bright for my taste (prefer growl of older Marshalls than snarl of JCM types) but I'd be interested in trying one with a booster, rather than a dirt pedal – might give a fatter low/mid.

I had an excessively bright one as a rental once... some good Sovtek pre tubes fixed that right up. A TS808, MXR OD Pedal, or a similar pedal is the way to go for those amps.

exactly. make sure to dial in lows and low mids as much as possible, and leave the highs and presence on zero... youll have to crank it to get the tone tho...

otherwise the amps actual notes will not be heard! at a big outdoor venue I just saw a band with a jcm800 full stack mic'd last weekend and I could not really even hear the guitar notes, just some distortion over the bass guitar really...

It's close, but just doesn't have that feel. That unique growl that the 800 has, the Mesa can't get that.
