Well I really got to crank this dude today and...after about 30 minutes - funny noises and funny smells. Smoked a pair of 6L6. Don't get me wrong - I LOVE this amp but jeezus, the tubes they put in them!!! They were all lit up like a Christmas tree. Replaced them with some spares I had and no more problems. Maybe 6-8 hours of total playing time on those tubes and pthhhhtpt.

I am gonna throw some JJs in there when I get the chance.

I wonder if Mesa just ships their amps with crap-ola tubes because they figure after shipping and shop wear and whatnot, why bother...

If I'm not mistaken, Mesa gives a 6-month warranty on tubes. You might contact them to see if they'll send you a replacement set...?

Also, might not hurt to have the amp checked out. You shouldn't have smoked a set of tubes that quickly unless something is way out of whack. Don't throw good glass after bad...

Hm, good point. The other set I put in looked a lot more normal but I didn't get to put a real load on the amp for very long.
