NAD: Rivera content

My new to me 1991 Rivera M100 landed today. It started life out as a 212 combo and was converted into a head. Original owner sent all the original paper work with it. Schematics, board layout diagrams, etc...

I had forgotten how killer the clean channels was in this amp. I've got it dialed for pure Deluxe Reverb at the moment. Have the lead channel setup in a more JCM800 flavor with a bit more gain. So far I'm really enjoying the amp. A much different beast to my EVH 5153. Anyway... Here's a quick picture. I'll try to get video soon.

Sweet! Someone did a nice job on the conversion. I wonder why they did it?

Re: NAD: Rivera content

I had one of those BITD. I think I would appreciate it more now than I did then.

Great amps. Congrats!

For some reason I read this as "But It Died"
I know it means back in the day..... but it just first struck me that way

Re: NAD: Rivera content

The 5153 has more of an upper mid push to it. The Rivera is darker and smoother. The Rivera's clean channel is just so damn good. Probably the best I've ever had on an amp. They are just voiced so different from one another it's hard to compare the two.

Re: NAD: Rivera content

I had a Rivera for about ten years until the great analog gear purge of 2014. Wonderful amps! As for "Why the conversion?" the most likely answer to me is because the previous owner didn't want to deal with the size/weight of a 2x12 combo.

Re: NAD: Rivera content

This will be my third or fourth M100. I've also owned the M60 and K55 heads. Before you praise the conversion too much, I would be willing to be the previous owner just called Rivera for a new head shell.

Finally got to open up the Master volume at band practice last night. Holy balls, Batman! This thing rocks so hard!
