NAD!!! Shiny Happy Bluey Glowy Awesomeness!

Re: NAD!!! Shiny Happy Bluey Glowy Awesomeness!

Congrats!!! Ive tried a few Oranges and just cant get much versatility out of them. The Tubemiester delivers in spades. I really wanna try a 36, but the 18 has been on my want list since they came out..

Re: NAD!!! Shiny Happy Bluey Glowy Awesomeness!

I was thinking about the dark terror for a while, it seems to have a lot of gain, but it's skimpy on features, voiced really dark (based on clips I've heard), and it was designed to be played cranked, and even at 7 watts that would be too loud for use while my family is home. The Ironball or Thunder would probably be awesome but they are too pricey for me right now. If I got the tubemeister used I could probably get a nicer OD or maybe an EQ to get that extra push. I have a Bad Monkey but I think a higher quality OD or EQ might be better for this use.

Yeah, I suppose it is kinda dark...other guitarist runs a Schecter 006 elite with a Full Shred bridge so it kinda evens out.

Also for clean boost (though not tweakable like using an EQ pedal), there's always the EHX Linear Power Booster - $40!

New tubes came in today. Tung Sol EL84s and 12ax7s:

- Way more articulate
- Smooth, rich gain structure
- Lush, extravagant detail on the cleans
- Gorgeous, singing, vocal-like quality to leads/melodies
- Serious crunch in the mids

The amp just went from a "Hey this is a neat, well voiced amp" to "OMG TONEGASM"

Tung Sol has pretty much my go-to brand for killer tone at reasonable prices.

Congrats CTN! Those TM series Kettners are a helluva bang for the buck! You give a pretty good interpretation on how they sound as well. I play your amps "big brother" the Triamp MK2. It has become my go-to amp over the past couple of years!
