Folks. A buddy came over with his Tele and showed me what this amp can truly do. We didnt play the dirty channel, but the cleans are truly Blackface Fender all the way. Amazing. Might have to keep it...Is it a blakface Deluxe? no. Is it close enough for me not to obsess about geting a blackface deluxe? Probably.

Ohh..I'll get a Boogie allright, you can count on that. And it'll be the best Boogie there is...nah, I think I'll be quite happy with a MKiv.

C+, right?

I guess those are the best ones... I don't know which version I played or how to tell the difference, I just know it sounded killer....

Right? You guys must be gettin' really sick of my sh*t. Im right in the thick of things right now. Gimme a littel bit longer please and I promise this crazy crazy crap will tail off. Im just trying to get some direction... make sure I end up where I want to be. I'm strating to really like the Shiva, but can see me getting rid of it for an old Super reverb or deluxe..nothing has that bright crunch and of an old Fender, but the Bogner gets pretty dern convincing Blackface tones.

I've come to the conclusion that there's alot of folks on this forum that couldn't dial in a half decent tone even if they had every great amp and every great guitar. However, I think there's some people on this forum that could dial in a good tone with a piece of crap amp and a piece of crap guitar. You've either got it or you don't.

But that's the beauty of the Shiva, it's super simple & quick to dial in. I don't know how you can get a bad sound out of it.

You must have missed post #14.

I tried one of those. Had me, the store owner and a couple of friend grinning like little kids first trying out a Metal Zone.

Tried it with a cheap G&L import Strat, a Duncan Twin Tube in the middle, and the dirty sounds were just incredible.

Hope yours has a bad tube or something, man. You can't make them sound bad.

Don't miss the Excursion control on the back. I currently have mine at about 2:00 to really round out the bottom end, but it adds depth in general as long as you don't add too much relative to the amount of gain. I keep the gain at 9:00 to 10:00.

Wait... I was thinking that you got the 20th Anniversary but you got the EL-34 combo, right? Never mind, it doesn't have the Excursion control. Sorry.

No, I got it, but there has to be something wrong with the amp (ie tubes). Like I said, it's so simple to dial in that it can't be his settings. Even if you were looking for a different tone, you'd still have to admit the Shiva is a great amp. Jerry's description makes the amp sound like it's horrible, that or he's slightly over-exaggerating.

Could also be that Bogners get so much hype that people create unrealistic expectations that no amp could meet.

It had to be this.
I guess I was expecting this thing to give me a BJ and make me a sammich too.
The cleans are nothing short of amazing. No, I do not have the 20th Annv., I have the Reverb model standard Shiva.
After further review the official on the field of play(me) has overvuled the previous call. The Shiva has GreaT big lush blackface honey dripping Deluxe tones..not as bright or crunchy/organic, but what is?
If it needs a little bit of bright, I have a 65 amps colour bosot treble booster that just might fit the bill.
Gonna take a lot to drag this away from me..theres nothing that a hundred men or more could ever...ugh.. be, etc. etc.

(P.S. I bless the rains down in Africa, but not in the Northeast)
