NAD that ended in tragedy

Sure. But if the fuse is blown now and the amp works after a replacement you still don't know why the fuse blew in the first place.

And since you don't know that you cannot estimate how likely it is for whatever blew the fuse to come back more regularly.
True, but it does at least indicate whether the trouble is something that's tripping the fuse or something more broken.

Even pulling the fuse out and testing it for continuity without replacing it is something.

Which fuses sound the best?
Mesa certified fuses: "Mesa fuses the highest quality available and selected for their exceptional full-range tonal quality, stability, low noise and low microphonics. They provide the maximum level of high gain output with low sensitivity to microphonic noise while producing a balanced response across the tonal spectrum that is extremely lively, open and expressive."

I know that stuff isn’t done like it used to be, but can the supplier give you an option to have a local amp repair location give it a look. It used to be the way things were done. Or could you just ship them the chassis? If I were blowing a fuse I would try another rectifier tube (if it has one) just to see first. Good luck.
