Re: NAD--took a chance, let's see if it works out. Bugera.
K, I popped the ridiculous gigantic screen off the back on the amp and one of the tubes is fried. The top of the tube where it is usually silver is powdery white and clear. It was one of the middle tubes, so I just popped out the good one and the bad, leaving the outer tubes, and cut the ohms to 8 from 16. Immediately the tone got a bit better. Oh, the reverb works. It has a reverb button AND a dial. I just tried the dial, hee hee. So I lugged it downstairs and played for a few minutes through the stock speakers. Sounded okay. Plugged it through my V30/G12H30 cab, and it came to life. Those stock speakers SUUUCK! The cleans were heavenly, and the distortions, much better. As a matter of fact, channel 3 is downright brutal. I love that channel. Feeds back like a stuck pig, but sounds so good. Will definitely either put V30s or a V30/G12H30 mix in this amp. Also have to try my 2X12 with the Splawn Small Blocks. Don't know how this amp will sound with a Greenback type speaker, but let's give it a shot, huh? Either way, I'll have to keep the two tubes out unless I just go double V30. For the price I paid, if I can get two years out of this thing, I'd be thrilled.
