NAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Craigslist score...1997 JCM 2000 DSL100 head at an insanely good price ($380!!!). I could not say no. It's in very good cosmetic condition. The spring reverb doesn't work, but I don't use reverb at all so I don't care in the least.

Seller used to be the manager at Metro Music here in Richmond, VA. Works on amps and has had this since it was new. He's downsizing his life and is playing a combo now. He says he's never had any issues with bias drift on this amp.

It has Svetlana power tubes and unbranded preamp tubes. I got another amazing deal on tubes through Musician's Friend so I'm replacing all and then biasing. I'm a JJ kinda guy so I got 4 JJ EL34s and 4 JJ 12AX7s...the whole lot for just $55 (due to unused points and 15% accessories sale).

Now I'm in the market for an early 80's JCM 800 slant cab loaded with G12-65's.

I look forward to seeing what this thing can do!

Re: NAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try and get the reverb working.

While playing turn the reverb knob and see if the sound changes at all. If so, the circuit may be working, and the problem is the pan or RCA cables.

Research dsl100 reverb on google. You may be able to fix it yourself.

New tubes was a good idea. It's always nice to hear a used amp at it's fullest potential. Luckily, the bias points on DSL's are right there between the power tubes. You can Google those voltage values and use a volt meter.

Re: NAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has the PCB been modified or replaced with the newest revision ($245 for the new PCB). Not to be a Debbie downer but you might soon realize why you got this at the price. You can google the issues but here is a thread to get you started http://www.marshallforum.com/index.php?threads/are-all-jcm2-60-00-boards-bad.90818/#post-1514128. The link in that thread is to the TSL PCB and not the DSL PCB though. Here is a link to a DSL PCB: https://www.tubesandmore.com/products/board-marshall-replacement-dsl100

Re: NAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So...the seller had the amp really close to the 90 per side Marshall specs. I cooled it down to 75.6 per side and I gotta say that the difference was immediately noticeable in a VERY good way. I felt it was a bit doggy before which is why I got the new tubes, but now it sounds killer even with the tubes that were in when I got it.

No Debbie Downing here...I tested it over and over and over and there's no bias drift just like the seller said.

My new tubes arrive tomorrow.
