Name 10 MUST have pedals

Re: Name 10 MUST have pedals

I don't use much for pedals.

Sioux Guitars: K-D Chorus
Ibanez: FL9 Flanger
Keeley: Two Knob Compressor
MXR: M-66 Classic Overdrive
MXR: M-133 Micro Amp

Re: Name 10 MUST have pedals

Ibanez TS9
Fulltone Fat Boost 3
MXR 10 band EQ
MXR Phase 90
Boss NS-2
TC Electronics Hall of Fame
Boss DD3
..pretty much a must for me.
The rest of my pedals are mostly dirt pedals(Metal Zone, Alpha Dog, Pale Horse, Trifecta, MXR Dist.III, Boss SD-1)

Re: Name 10 MUST have pedals

I find Univibe (of any sort_ an interesting choice. Why does this make the list. I have lived my entire life without one.

The vibe is a special phaser. It has a sound that's very noticeable, but at the same time it doesn't completely highjack the sound of your guitar like most other phasers. With a regular phaser when playing lead I find the sound kinda overpowering. With a 'vibe it's a bit more subtle. To me phasing meshes better with distortion and fuzz than chorus or flangers, and the vibe seems to mesh better than typical phasers. I'm not a high gain guy though.

Seriously check one out.

Re: Name 10 MUST have pedals

Way Huge Green Rhino OD (I like options on my OD's)
MXR M108 10-band EQ
Boss HM-2 (floored)
Hardwire Chorus (I'm sure there's a better chorus out there but for the money, this damn thing is awesome)

Everything else is details.

Re: Name 10 MUST have pedals

I think most guitarists all use a red, yellow or orange one, although many prefer green. Blue, pink and purple ones are optional.

I use a yellow one, and sometimes an orange one. I don't have enough feet to use more than two.

You don't have a black or a white one? How do you play covers of "Ebony and Ivory"?

Re: Name 10 MUST have pedals

If I had to make a pedal board that had 10 pedals on it my choices would be:

#1 Dunlop 535Q
#2 MXR 10 Band EQ
#3 Way Huge Green Rhino
#4 MXR Custom Badass '78 Distortion
#5 MXR Phase 90
#6 EH Small Clone
#7 Boss Compressor Sustain
#8 Z Vex Fuzz Factory Probe
#9 MXR Smart Gate
#10 MXR Carbon Copy

Re: Name 10 MUST have pedals

1.) DOD American Metal
2.) Arion chorus
3.) Ibanez MS-10 Metal Charger
4.) DOD FX17 wah/volume
5.) Ibanez CS5 Super Chorus
6.) DOD FX9 Digital Delay
7.) DigiTech The Weapon
8.) MXR Distortion+ re-re-reissue
9.) DOD FX69 Grunge
10.) Boss XT-2 Xtortion

Re: Name 10 MUST have pedals

I don't know if these are 10 "must have," and in fact I don't know if I can remember 10 pedals I've had at one time. Chorus wasn't for me, phasing wasn't for me, vibe pedals weren't for me, etc. etc.

That being said I'll go with what I think would be the perfect board:

1. Dunlop Crybaby Wah
2. Germanium Fuzz Face (If I had ever gotten to play the analogman sun face I would probably put that here, mine is a BYOC)
3. Keeley or Analogman or Monte Allums Modded boss SD-1, with the buffered circuit modification (it uses a capacitor, a transistor, and a diode but I forget how it's wired exactly)
4. Xotic EP booster (haven't played this either but boy the demos sound good. I found a schematic though so that may change soon)
5. Malekko Omicron Tremolo
6. Catalinbread Echorec (again, haven't played, but this is exactly the kind of echo I would get if I had the $$$)

That's all I can think of, so for the last 4, I'll do "really want to try sometime"

7. Analogman KoT
8. PCE Aluminum Falcon
9. Z.Vex Ringtone
10. Barber LTD

If you can't tell I'm a big fan of drive pedals.

Re: Name 10 MUST have pedals

Maybe I'm slightly misinterpreting the OP but I feel wahwah got it right. What's a set of pedals that if you saw them on a board you'd go "this guy knows how to gig"?

Not sure I can come up with 10 but I see these come up a lot in use by guys that really get milage from pedals:

Timmy
HBE Power Screamer
Xotic AC Booster
Turbo Tuner
Neunaber WET
Line6 DL4
Boss DD-3/5
Barber Tone Press
Ernie Ball/Morley volume pedal

EDIT: Also that reissue chorus/flange thing with the hammertone... Fulltone Choralflange IIRC.

Re: Name 10 MUST have pedals

I would never use 10 pedals so I can't list 10, but I have been using 3 or 4 for many years.....

Boss DD3.

Boss CE 2

TS9 or 808 ( I like them both but I typically use the TS9's.

Boss TU2 or TU3. Then a good Wah-Wah. I have two vintage Thomas Organ Company Wahs that have been modded, I have a Vox 847 that has also been modded, and I have a Stock Vox Clyde McCoy. I prefer the TOC wahs. They just have the right sound/voice for what I like to do.
A few years ago I won a Duncan Deja Vu Delay and I never really used it. Its too big & has too many options so its brand new sitting in the box in a closet... I like the DD3. I have been using one for at least 15 years or so. I actually have 3 of them and I use them all.

Re: Name 10 MUST have pedals

Must have pedals?

A tuner. I use the Korg DT-10 because of the great buffer.

An overdrive pedal for soloing, I don't go for all that boutique BS... Catalinbread, Luther drive, etc...

I use the Fulldrive 2 mosfet. it's a variation on the tubescreamer.

a vox wah.

Re: Name 10 MUST have pedals

I'm quite serious when I say that I'd rather be kicked in the junk than ever hear that bastard pedal again. If I want ugly, I go with the HM2.

LOL!! Well, just for the record, I WAS kidding! Tho I do own one, I never use it anymore. I once had a SS amp that had NO gain at all, so...

Re: Name 10 MUST have pedals

Visual Volume
Weeping Demon Wah
Verbzilla
Delay (tastes vary)
Phase 90
Dynacomp
Chorus (again, tastes vary)

Did anyone mention a Tubescreamer:?:
