Nashville reccomendations

Re: Nashville reccomendations

My recommendations would be Gruhn's on 4th and Broadway downtown and Corner Music on 12th Ave south. You can check out Gruhns inventory online at http://www.gruhn.com/
Corner has a pretty wide selection and some good amps also.

If you have time, check out some of the pawn shops in town- lots of people come to town with stars in their eyes, and then end up hocking gear to get back home when they realize how hard it is to get signed.

Re: Nashville reccomendations

I'm not a huge vintage guitar buff like some people, but I love checking out Gruhns inventory. There's just something appealing about 50 year old guitars that are still walking the walk!

Re: Nashville reccomendations

I've been really disappointed in my trips to Gruhn. They have a lot more "new" instruments then I ever thought they'd have, like custom shop stuff which is fine I guess. But every time I've wanted to actually play something, not even looking at the $25k guitars I get the evil eye from the staff and end up in a little amp closet. Last time I had a blackface Twin about a foot away from my face in a 3x5 room...

I forget the name at the moment, but there's a VERY cool hole in the wall store in the middle of downtown that's mostly consignment & used gear. No bargains to be had, as even the pawnshops know what everything is worth... but every time I go in there it costs me money... mics; pedals; outboard gear... guitars & amps... you name it!

Re: Nashville reccomendations

I know about Gruhn's, but I'm not sure I'm looking to spend Gruhn's money. :) My limit is more like $2K. I'm especailly interested in Gretsches and Jazzmasters.
