anyone ever try the guitar rig 2 recording software/modeler with the foot pedal and all?

i'm looking for a better sounding yet fairly simple recording setup for my PC. i have a pod XT now and i'm just not happy with the recorded tones. however through my atomic amp i love the pod XT.

here is the site for those interested...

so, anyone own it or try it?

Mike.....I don't currently own any guitar related recording program or software to record onto my pc...This looks very cool and pretty easy to use actually! So,I guess you have all of your effects, drums, and a program built with this unit that allows a guy to record straight to the computer without having to buy anything else? I Liked what I saw...I watched the video...

Re: Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2....

yeah it seems pretty simple to use has lots of extras (drums etc). also i like that you can build your own rack so easily and use 2 amps and 2 cabs at once. plus you can hook 2 guitars or a guitar and bass in at one time and play with another person.

i'm really thinking about picking one up. they seem to be selling well since most places are sold out.

going to do a bit more reading on it but so far it looks like the winner to me over the line 6 stuff.

Mike....I'm reading all about the product also...Wondering if it's possible to slip a seperate effect in with the built in pedal? In other words, say you wanted to demo a seperate pedal effect through the program?

Re: Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2....

i'm not sure to be honest but i would assume it has to go right after the guitar before the guitar rig floor pedal (only place that makes any sence i guess). if i come across anything like that i'll let you know what it says.

Are you going to download the free trial demo?

What about retail pricing in the US?

The rig2 is pretty new it goes for around $500. The first version of it has a diffrent pedal board but it goes for around $300.

Re: Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2....

I got the demo version of the first 1 a good while ago. Ran very poorly on my PC (SERIOUS LAG).have my new PC now and ran the demo version of the 1st Guitar rig and same.not as bad a lag but still very unusable unless your recording and have your speakers turned off...

That said,They say it work best using "ASIO" ,but on my new PC that option isnt available,it was on my old PC though???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Re: Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2....

My soundcard has ASIO support so I could set latency time to just a few milliseconds in Cubase. I have no problems with latency in Guitar Rig. When doing real-time monitoring through two tracks with Guitar Rig on, you might have to set latency time to like 50 ms to give your computer some more time.

EDIT: 50 ms IS noticeable, I confused it with 5 ms's...

Ah, so this is because my soundcard just doesn't support ASIO then? i see....................................................................................

Re: Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2....

I think G Rig 2 sounds terrible. I've tried almost every direct recording method including expensive Boogie pre's, they all sound bad.

Get a 5 watt epiphone Valve Special (or use your Atomic amp) and use your POD, mic the amp and get a direct line from the POD record both signals mix to taste and you'll have a much better tone than any modeling software or pedal straight.

Re: Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2....

i have and use Guitar Rig 1, and it is great...I have done lots of recording with it and it always records well too.

Re: Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2....

i am using Guitar Rig2 at home, on PC equiped with full 24bit soundcard and results (with the latest drivers) are far better than i expected. This thing can whip some bad ass.

in more transparent/acoustical patterns is almost ******n perfect.

it`s essential to have a good soundcard, otherwise is buzz and screetch.
overall, if they advance the progress in this tempo, i think we won`t need an amp in 5-10 years. scary thought, but for me, this software is unbealiveable.

depends what you're after dude. It gives an AMAZING clean tone. However, lacks in the real super hi-gain department. One draw back is high noise levels.

Re: Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2....

Used it in the Studio on 2 or 3 tracks (though it could have benn GR1 as well, no idea, it wasn´t ecxactly a main component), pretty impressive SW. the modeling capabilities are near endless and they sound pretty decent out of the box...

Re: Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2....

Guitar Rig sounded like crap through my integrated sound card. Extremely noisy and shrill.

However, it sounds wonderfully on my friend's computer, which has some nifty Creative Labs card I can't remember right now. Audigy something.

If you have the right PC, Guitar Rig is unbeatable. :smokin:

Re: Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2....

i compared it with the line6 toneport ux2.and i bought the ux2!!!But the GR2 hast 2 advantages.1 got a pedal ,for toneport you have to buy it extra ,and the second one ,you can always record your tone clean and change the "drive" adjustments anytime.BUt still ,toneport is more "real" and in higain situations is unbeatable
