NBD ( New Bass Day ) Ibanez content

ehdwuld

A Ficus
got a new bass today

went to GC two weeks ago
picked up one of the top-o-the-line Gio's the GSR200
and one of the bottom of the SR line the SR250
figuring that whichever one I didnt like I would just return before the
end of 30 days

well after playing the SR, the Gio just felt unfinished clunky and cheap
the SR was clearly the better axe
so I made up my mind and decided to return the Gio

Saturday night I looked at the website and found a used
SR500 with the Bartolini pickups for $521
and decided that that was what I really wanted

so I went this afternoon to swap the two basses and ask GC to order the
used one and I would pay the difference

they had a new one on the rack for $599
and said that "today only the sale was $100 off any purchase of $599 or more"

I must have broke a mirror

my lucky day

I present my newest addition

just have a quick question of anyone with one of these basses
the sales doode said the switch was an active/passive switch
the website says its a mid boost
which is it?

Re: NBD ( New Bass Day ) Ibanez content

I believe GIOs are cheap Ibanez model, like Squier by Fender, so there shouldn't be such a thing as top-of-the-line GIO.

Re: NBD ( New Bass Day ) Ibanez content

Good call on getting the better SR bass. I had a 1998 SR700 with P/J pickups that I used for 10-12 years exclusively. If you like thinner narrower necks, those basses are perfect! They just don't fall within the traditional specs (ie Fender), so they don't get as much attention.

The switch is a frequency selector for the mid-band of the EQ. Also the Bartolini Mk Is aren't true Bartolinis; they're designed by Bartolini and MIK under license.

+1

The same pickups and EQ are available on Cort bass guitars. (Guess who manufactures those Made In Indonesia Ibanez instruments?)
