It's my first build and it works!
BYOC 250+ kit.
I added another diode in the clipping secton for asymmetrical clipping, and it gave it a very tube feel to it.
I did screw up up right off the rip by putting the only 47k Ohm resistor in the wrong place, but luckily I had a 33k, a 10k, and a 4.7k ohm resistors I could string in series to get it close enough to right. I figure if that was my only mistake on my first build I'm pretty happy, plus the fact I fixed it makes it even better.
It's sounds like it came right out of the 70's.
The gain structure is almost on the verge of a fuzz, so it makes for a pretty usefull overdrive. I love it!
It took about 5 hours to complete and was worth every second. I highly recomend this pedal for a first time builder. It comes with extra parts so you can mod it a few different ways, and I recommend doing so.
Sorry for the nasty pics, I can't find MY camera.

nice. pretty dammed satisfying isnt it? Now you've got the taste what are you doing next?

Re: NDIYPD! DOD 250 clone.

Well done!!!

I got the bug just recently too. Got a decent soldering iron for xmas and did 4 monte allums mods first.

I then progressed to the BYOC kits like you. I've done the 5-knob compressor and the OD2 (this one is really great too. Sound like 70's drive, can get a mean 'whole lotta love' tone without the fizzyness).

I've just started the General Guitar Gadgets kits, but I'd also like to do a small class A type amp, but getting kits to Aus could be costly.

Check out Ceriatone, he's closer to you than he is to the States. I put together a Metroamps upgrade board kit in an amp conversion, and made a plexi combo that rocks my socks. Been looking at Ceriatone for a Matchless clone for an old tube PA head I have.
