Neck and Body of Warmoth build

Re: Neck and Body of Warmoth build

Just a question to all using Warmoth necks - did you find them a perfect fit for your hands or you need to do some custom profiling job (e.g., sanding down) before using them?

I have 3 necks from them and finds that the shoulder (area along the neck close to the fretboard) radius is a bit sharp, especially for their thin-C profile. I have to sand them down until I get a smoother radius before I can use them else the tendons on my thumb will be quite painful after 5 mins of use....:smack:

Do you mean rolling the fretboard edges? I've had no issues myself.

Re: Neck and Body of Warmoth build

Can I get a close-up pic of the back of the neck (just wanna see the grain and color) and the inlay?

I will say the roasted maple looks a bit darker in person. Pics for you below.

Great Day In The Morning! Nice work!

I gotta look at that profile again

I still haven't pulled the trigger on my roasted board

Considered getting the whole neck roasted? The main benefits are supposed to be rock hard stability in any climate, and no need for finish.

Re: Neck and Body of Warmoth build

If I ever get around to ordering the Tele I want from Warmoth there is no doubt I would get a roasted maple neck for it. I like the grain in this one that you got too. A grain like that would look awesome on a swamp ash tele.

Re: Neck and Body of Warmoth build

HALENisking, it keeps looking better and better!

+1 To the Roasted Neck looking darker in person. I would recommend Roasted Maple from now on...feels so good in the hands and does not require a finish!

Re: Neck and Body of Warmoth build

I'm sorry, but,
When you say "roasted maple" - you mean the back of neck, whole neck, but NOT the fretboard?
Remember second grade-no question is stupid?
Yeah, I didn't think so either.
Thank you

Maybe if you actually read the thread, especially post #4, you will get an answer.

The whole maple part of the neck is roasted, not the Fretboard. You can get a 1 piece Roasted Maple neck that would have a Roasted Fretboard, but for oily boards like Ebony and Rosewood I don't think it would be wise to get those roasted...nor do I think they even offer that. I do know Musikraft will roast the entire body as well, suppose to make it a little lighter.

I have a Roasted Quartersawn Maple neck from Warmoth that is my favorite neck ever!

Agreed! I just love wood grain. Do you have any other warmoth builds right now, or just the lp? Could you link me to it and any others actually? I love checking out cool warmoth builds. Thanks dude!

Good to hear from you SJ318! Like trey explained, only the maple is roasted, not the ebony fretboard. I can't recommend it enough, it feels fantastic.
