neck contour

I'm confused about neck styles and all the different contours.. what's the difference and what's the big deal? what's the best one??? examples are the "c" "u" thin flat, extra thin flat etc etc...

Basically it they are variations in the radius or shape of the neck. Which one is best is based on personal preference.
