Neck pickup for one of my custom guitars (all mahogany/custom bridge)

Hey Guys

I'm building another custom guitar for one of my touring customers. He's getting my double cutaway wiht a carved mahogany body (no maple top) and mahogany neck

he's playing rock/hard rock through a marshall dsl 50

i'm throwing a custom in the bridge as its a little harder and more rock than the JB in the single cutaway of my building which he currently has. He'd also like it to "feed back more"
so i figured the ceramic magnet would help in that dep't too

but he finds the 59 neck i gave him too vintage sounding
but then again, my singlecutaway is more bassy than my double cutaway so that might have somethin to do with it

but the final quesiton

what neck pickup
aph2 - too muddy?
jazz - i typicall hate them, but wiht alll this mahogany it might work (i find them too percussive and steel drum like)
something else?

I would describe it as somewhat vintage. To me it has more of a mid-range tone compared to the 59. I guess another one to consider would be the Full Shred. Definitely not vintage, very articulate and great for soloing in the neck position. One of my favorites.

that's the thing - they're not shredders at all
and he plays rythym
the chunky kind

In my opinion the APH is not muddy at all. Great neck pickup. The Full shred neck might be a really good sound for your customer since he found the 59 to be vintage sounding.
