Neck Pocket Protection.....

Greetings & happy new year!! As I prepare for slapping a new neck onto my Strat body, it's a tight squeeze,,, So, how do I best protect that short wing on the right as I shimmie the neck down the pocket?? All holes on body & neck have been properly drilled, but is there anything I can do to ensure safe passage? A very light sanding to that side of the neck?

Many thanks~

Light sanding, yes, but maybe both sides. It may just be finish build up around the top of the pocket. I can’t really see.

its ok for it to be snug, but you dont want to have to really force it. a little light sanding is a good idea

Great,,, I've fixed worse, as well as having screwed up on much lesser tasks It'll be swell,, just waiting for a few choice parts in black to trickle in..... It'll be a tribute partscaster in memory of a dear friend, & my first g'friend who passed after a 20 yr bout with MS...
This body colour perfectly matches her's.... Thanks guyz & galzॐ

UPDATE!! Wouldn't yà know, as I was lining up the neck adjacent to the body to mark off where NOT to sand, I effortlessly inserted the 'heel first' into the pocket, as most of you predicted, and VOILÀ, it fit like a hand in glove.... Still awaiting a custom engraved neck plate, & that'll be about it to top off this tribute build,,, which I shall proudly post pics of in a few days.... Thanks again for all your interest & expert advice~ For Debॐ
