Re: Need a cold-sounding 80's-90's type chorus pedal

If you can find one, the Way Huge Blue Hippo is my current go to. I have two of them and wouldn't part with either.

Alternatively there's a remake of the old Arion chorus which I really like. They're not cheap but you'll know where the money went; they sound lush.

If you want something a little cheaper, a big sleeper pedal for me is the MXR M134 Stereo Chorus. I have that on my home rig but it's getting moved to one of my live boards. A great wealth of chorusy tones from it and it's just amazing for solos.

If you want cheaper still, then the Boss CE-5 Chorus Ensemble is one of my go-to's when I'm running low on board space.

Yup digital, you can see the ES56028 chip there. Not a big deal as the internet will make it out to be though hah.

I just pulled mine off my board and mine's a blue label (s/n is long gone from inside battery cover) which is analog. Would be neat to have them side by side to really see the difference.

Let us know how your liking it and any settings etc!
