For the neck or middle, my faves would be the Antiquity Texas Hot followed by the APS-1 or APS-2.

For the bridge position it's impossible (at least to me!) to beat the Twangbanger or the Antiquity Texas Hot Custom Bridge pickup.

Those are all alnico 2 pickups. They are all fat and punchy with especially nice mids and smooth treble.

I have a set of Antiquities in another strat. Fat 50's in another and looking for a 3rd voice. The other 2 are RW board. The strat in question is a maple board and is noticable brighter. I was looking at the SSL-6 Custom Flat. Anyone playing these?

I've not played the SSL-6. Could be a good choice in the bridge with the APS in the mid/neck. If it were me, I'd go Twangbanger/APS/APS. That's what I'll put in my Ash strat with a maple board once I finish it.

I've not played the SSL-6. Could be a good choice in the bridge with the APS in the mid/neck. If it were me, I'd go Twangbanger/APS/APS. That's what I'll put in my Ash strat with a maple board once I finish it.

I agree.

My suggestion would be a set of Antiquity II Texas Hots or the APS-2/APS-2/Twangbanger set.

Fat and punchy? Sounds like a job for Sup'r Strat! With a regular 5 way switch and a DPDT toggle or PP switch you can access 9 different tones, including new linkages like bridge and neck in series or in parallel, all 3 pickups in parallel and last but not least, the bridge and neck pickups in series, with both of them in parallel with the middle pickup for a Hubert Sumlin/Howlin' Wolf kinda sound...

For best results you'd want to swap the RWRP middle pickup with either the neck or bridge pickup so the bridge/neck linkages are humcancelling.

For the heck of it you might want to check that harness out with your stock pickups while waiting for the new ones to arrive... once you've been Sup'rStratt-ed, you'll never want to go back! :saeek:
