Just here to throw in another vote for the MXR Super Badass Distortion... such a versatile pedal. It can be used as a boost, and do literally all styles of rock and metal. It sits right at $100 new and I just don't think another pedal compares for the sound or versatility. It has a home on my pedalboard, providing a secondary distortion to my amps gain channel so I have more variety of sounds for my band. At home, it is very fun to play with.
I tried the BE-OD and did not like it... very much a one-trick pony and I think it has too much fizzy gain that overtakes your tone. And it is $200, it doesn't even have a boost, no mid control, and again, limited pallet of sound.
