Need a little help with a mid pickup :)

Hello all :)
Bought my first electric guitar just over two years ago, love heavy rock and metal so after a long time searching and going to my local guitar/music shop trying out what fitted, I finally went for a Dean custom series the awesome looking "Micheal Batio MAB4-Gauntlet" turns out not just awesome looking, but fitted me nicely, I was so happy to learn how to play this instrument, still after two years love it to bits :)

Anyway (a little long-winded coming to my question sorry! ;) ) I got bored with the black look and also wanted to change the sound a bit, so bought a new golden Floyd Rose bridge to replace the Black, and for the bridge and neck Hum pickups, custom made Seymour Duncan Invader (Black with gold poles, blown away with the sound! ) I also swapped out the black plastic Humbucker surround to gold brass, I left the Middle single coil pickup (a DMT Design) in place.
So, at last, my question :) The middle pickup is coming through very weak compared to the two Invader pickups. What Seymour Duncan single coil middle pickup will work well with the Invader set, and just be as powerful?.....Thanks for reading my first LONG post :) I shall be very happy for any help with this ;)

Try a Quarter Pounder or Hot Rails.

Welcome to the forum!

The Invader is seriously powerful, but the only single coils we make that are close is the single coil Invader (that Gregory mentioned) from the Custom Shop, and the Hot Rails. Both sound closer to a humbucker rather than a single coil though...so other than the outputs matching, what do you want the single coil to sound like?

Thanks for all the help :) I would like it to sound a little warmer not too harsh, but right now I'd like it to sound(full stop lol!) I had tried to raise the pickup it almost touched the strings, it did make me wonder if that pickup was faulty, as there is such weak sound coming from it, I have checked, and rechecked all the wiring I did, everything seems fine with that :)

I just think it doesn't have a chance with the Invaders in there. It isn't that it is weak, it is that the Invaders are so strong. The Hot Rails will be significantly hotter, won't sound harsh, and will be a lot warmer. I don't know of another single-coil-sized pickup that can keep up with the Invaders unless it was active.

Thanks Mincer :) Would it be possible to link to the Hot Rails please :) I can then send the link to my dealer here in the UK :)

Thank you, Clint 55 :) I shall go for the Hot Rails, they will fit the space I have? (see pics above)

Thanks!

Re: Need a little help with a mid pickup :)

Welcome! Yes it will fit. It's the same size as a single coil.

Re: Need a little help with a mid pickup :)

Since the Hot Rails are in stock from my UK dealer I shall order later today :)
