Need a simpler footswitch for my Multiwatt Dual Rec

Hey all. I'm reorganizing my pedalboard at the moment and I'm in need of something smaller to switch channels and MAYBE the solo level on my amp. The amp's footswitch is just too big and I'm out of real estate on the board.

Here's the footswitch itself...

I just need a smaller footswitch to interface with the external switching section on the back of the amp (see below) and maybe turn the solo level on and off. 2 or 3 buttons with LED's and that's it.

I'm gonna have to buy a bigger board soon anyways for what I have planned eventually, but I don't like huge footswitches that have more functions than I need. Voodooman on eBay look slike they might make something that works, but I don't know exactly what would work.

Any suggestions?

I used to have my DR footswitch on my board and eventually gave up and just set it on the ground next to the pedalboard.

Mesa does make smaller footswitches (like the one for the 5:50) but I don't know how the switch functions would line up.

Haha, I may end up doing that. TBH I kind of liked the old longer one better - all the switches right in a row and it was easy to put on a riser on the pedalboard.

Yeah the old one is the one I have. You can order those still from Mesa but you would probably need to call 'em to see whether the functions would work right or if it would have to be rewired.

A conventional two button switch with a stereo splitter might work too, since you only need two functions. something like this?

;)

2 buttons would be easily doable on a 1590b (think zvex sized) box laid out horizontally... just sayin', even moreso since you're going to want it with 1/4'' jacks instead of the multi-pin DIN stuff.

Switch doctor, black label switches and other are great, this should be simple latching stuff so it's quite easy. Any simple 2-button latching footswitch would do, as long as it's got 2 cables coming out and not a single stereo 1/4'' male jack.

Is it possible to either split the output to two mono 1/4" plugs, or put an adapter cable on the single stereo cable to avoid having to run two cables back?

Technically yes, a simple splitter (y) should do the job.

Have you looked into Swtich Doctor? I got a 2 button switch from them for my Temoverb. Small, works fine, and I can use any length cables with it.

It looks like one of those three-button ones might work... I'll check into it.

They've got stuff like that at the local GC. I'm kind of curious as to how two channel switch 1/4 outputs would go between three channels, but I have a pretty god idea what'll happen.

Forget simple. Go full MIDI!

Get the custom cable for your amp, then hook up to your favorite MIDI foot controller (e.g. Ground Control). While you're at it, link up all your MIDI-capable effects too.

Uhhh.... sure!!! While I'm at it, I'm gonna use this bucket of water to put out this candle. ;) :biglaugh:

Thanks for the advice, I'll check it out.

For the record... I emailed Boogie and their CS department wasn't of much help. No recommendations on footswitches and as it turns out I can't swap the grill out on my amp either. Oh well. :)

Re: Need a simpler footswitch for my Multiwatt Dual Rec

DIY would probably be the best way to go (at least for me) since what you want is dead-simple and, well, I think I can make some really nice looking stuff. Again, that's just me.

Otherwise, as I said earlier, find any cheap 2-button latching FS. Most won't have 2 cables but you can use a splitter to convert it to 2 mono 1/4 jacks and be done with it.
