My son has the same set up, w/a maximizer and Micro Amp in the loop. It's just two cables and well worth it to him. Like has been said, if you HAVE to go in line, a GE-7 will work but it does change your tone and a stock one will likely add noise. My other son has the Boss EQ-20, much better stock EQ than the GE-7. It's quieter and more versatile (you can save settings, 10 band vs. 7), but he still prefers it in the loop.
