Any suggestions on a good trem pedal for both clean and crunch? I want something with a lush deep throb that sounds like a blackface fender... If it makes a diffrance I am using a Mesa LSC.
I have debated for awhile now whether to let go of my old and LOUD Twin Reverb that I've had for 17 years :scratchch, eh decisions. What always keeps it with me is the incredibly LUSH tremolo, and yeah to some extent because it is the ultimate amp for clean too. But I do prefer other clean sounds from different amps for me. With that in mind, I've looked at many different stompbox units over the past year and have considered these three choices.
Monster Effects Swamp-Thang Tremolo Pedal
An Area 51 BMT-60 add-on tube tremolo
& a Guyatone Flip VT-X Vintage Tremolo
A lot of people swear by the Voodoo Lab Tremolo box and I've also heard a few raves regarding the Empress Tremolo.
:eyecrazy: choices! Thankfully we really do have many great options in gear as guitar players these days.
The Catalinbread Semaphore, Keelly modded TR-2 sound nice. Also the Empress and Cusack look really cool since they have tap tempo, but they may be a bit more involved than you are looking for. Actually, the TR-2 probably doesn't have the vintage waveshape you are looking for.
the Boss TR-2 is alright, even better if modded by Analogman or Keeley, the VooDooLabs is pretty nice as well, IM not a bug fan of the Swamp Thang but some guys dig it, the line 6 gets good reviews...
There is the VOX cooltron tremolo that is also a vibrato but that is the VOX style trem which is slightly different to the Fender style trem but i think closer then something like a BOSS TR-2 would be.
