Need best Blues Pedal

Okay, as you can plainly tell, im nearly out of room. I still need to get a DOD 250+ Clone on here, so I might have to move somthing off, but I 100% need a Blues pedal.
I have a old Bluesbreaker Marshall pedal, kind of like a Bluesbreaker in a box, but wondering what you may think is the best strictly blues pedal. I've listened to clips of the BD-2 , both Analogman and Keeley, but found them too fuzzy/fizzy.

This board was made to be only an Overdrive board..and for convenience only- I'll probably only use one pedal at a time.;

Top right to left; TS9 modded to 808 specs, Dod "Randy Rhoads" Script Distortion+ Clone, Boss original OD-1,
Rockett Animal '68 Plexi-in-a-Box, Original Clark Gainster Tweed-in-a-Box,


Lower Row left to right;

Landgraff TS-808 Clone, MXR Zakk set to OD Classic , Marshall Drive Master JCM800 in-a-box, Marshall Guv'nor "Gary Moore".

As you may notice, I'm mainly going for Marshall Amp compatible OD's here.

you have an OD-1, a TS9 modded to 808, and an 808 clone, a plexi in a box, and a gainster... dude as far as I'm concerned all of that has blues written all over it. What the heck kind of blues tones are you not getting?
and you don't like the BD-2... that leaves... what exactly?

Sorry but this is like saying I need a 100% metal pedal... I have a metal zone, a modded metal zone, a Big Muff, a Metal Muff, a keeley DS-1, and a mesa V-twin.

Well, a blues pedal , I think, is low gain, so I dont really have anything in that pic but I do have my old Bluesbreaker, so i pulled that out and stuck it on the board instead of the Guv'nor, which is fairly similar enuf to the DriveMaster where i won't really miss it.

Hey..does anyone Like the BD-2??

YES but I don't use it for blues so much as for an indie rock where you want something that doesn't sound as rough/gnarly as stoner or grunge, but still not "smooth". The BD-2 has some sparkle that I like when you back off the volume too.

So you don't have an OCD on that board. Do you like those? I used to use a cool cat drive (variation on the OCD) and I have to say the thing has a lot of gain on tap but you're not required to use it per se. When you don't use all of it, it's as warm or bright as most people need, is pretty responsive to guitar volume, and is pretty clear. Not as much tone coloration like with the tube screamer variants.

edit: or sell everything and get a Tweed Champ. Pedals? We don't no no stinking pedals

Yes, but mine is H2O modded to be less gritty. Its nice, gritty like a plexi, but not quite as thick.

I'd second the les Lius. I just got one of these last week. This has quite a lot of gain on tap once you switch the second stage in, but can be very like SRV's version of little wing in standard gain form. Its also expressive and touch sensitive. The other thing it does well is Buddy Guy tone - Damn right I've got the Blues is a good example

Get anything by Behringer - it will give you the blues all right... :firedevil

Now seriously - electric blues goes with the electric guitar better than any style so almost any pedal can work for you... I'd probably go for a Fender Tweed or Blackface type of distortion - the Les Lius, Catalinbread's Formula No. 5, I think there's something by Wampler.
Or just get a small Fender Champ and drive the hell out of it with what you currently have...

It seems like the OP is looking for reassurance that, when he plays blues, he'll be using the "right" pedal. Well, there is no such thing, Poindexter. The proof is in the pudding. If it sounds like a great blues pedal when you play blues on it, it is.

WTH...you want 10 dirt boxes on your board and nothig else?!

And what is a "blues pedal"...I mean come on dude, use whatever sounds right to you...you have a half dozen TS style pedals on there, one of those is for for a slight "bluesy" push on an amp...

Maybe you need a Boss Blues Driver or a Berringer Classic Blues, or a Digitech Screaming Blues or an MI Audio Blues Pro, ISP Totally Blues, Hot Cake Bluesberry...

All of those are great blues pedals...they even say so in the names!

he also needs an MI audio blues boy....and an SD twin tube blue.

In fact...an entire pedalboard dedicated to only blues pedals.

MI Audio Blues Pro. It also has a toggle for fuzz, but don't expect Fuzz Face tones from it. I just keep mine in the OD setting and LOVE it with my Callaham Special Winds in my Strat. It makes them super FAT!

Real Blues players don't use pedals. Although Stevie did. He's the only one I can listen to who did though. I don't even like Hendrix when he uses a pedal to play the the blues - sounds like Hippie Blues.

There are tons of great blues players today who play with pedals. I see them all the time. The guys back in the day that are considered the "classic" blues players didn't embrace them, no but not because they didn't like them. A lot of times they simply turned their amps up until they broke up so they didn't need something to push the amp or they just weren't available for some of those players.

I hate this argument that is made about pedals having no place in the blues. I use a Fulltone Fulldrive to push my amp and have sometimes hidden it behind my amp because of the stigma that if you use pedals, you aren't playing blues! It's just a little bit ridiculous.

I've been playing blues for 12 years now (since I took up guitar) and I've shared the stage with a lot of great, classic blues performers and not a single one has ever looked down on me for using a pedal. Instead they poked fun at the jazzier lines I use, but that's a whole other ball game :) It was all in good sport and I find the only people who are against pedals in the blues are not the people who have grown up playing this music, but the ones who want to categorize and quantify it. /rant

i play blues and i typically dont use a pedal if i dont need to but the barber ltd (especially at 18v) and timmy are the two that do it best for me.

you have more drive pedals than you need already so dont buy any more. use what you have and dont be a dumbass

I can't think of any reason to use a pedal for blues unless you just can't turn up your amp loud enough to get natural overdrive. If that's the case, I'd get a smaller amp and not another pedal.

Unless you like sounding like everyone else on youtube. To me pedals make everyone sound to much like everyone else.
