I want to swap my EBMM Silhouette's DiMarzio PAF Pro out with Seymour Duncan TB4. I was wondering what the difference between humbucker and trembucker is.
Hey boogie; welcome to the forum. To put it another way, trembuckers are just an eensy bit wider than humbuckers. Some "vintage" fixed bridges are wider also. However, I tried both a normal humbucker C5 and a trembucker C5 in my Kahler equipped Peavey. The trembucker does line up a bit better, but there was no difference in sound between the two.
I'm not sure how important pole alignment really is. This is one of my favorite pics on this subject. This is a $6000 Benedetto "Benny", with Seymour Duncan manufactured Benedetto A6's. Robert Benedetto is a highly respected guitar maker, and he doesn't seem to be too concerned with string/pole piece alignment.
