NEED HELP completing minimalistic pedal board.

I'm looking to complete my board (for the time being). Searching for input as well as suggestions. Not looking to drop $500 on a custom boutique pedal. My plan is to purchase 2 more pedals. One of which will be mxr carbon copy (I like having 2 delays) and the other is left for suggestions/advice.

My amp is a mesa stiletto which has 3 overdrive types and a boost option, so dirt pedals are out of the question.

my current board has the following tuner, neunaner seraphim (reverb and shimmer), dyna comp, cusack tme delay, ernie ball vp.

i dont use wahs, i have one tho.

what am i missing? im trying to keep it minimal and only have what i plan on using a lot.

i had multiple choruses from small clone, to dreamscape, to wylde, cant find one i gel with. I wouldnt mind adding something with some color, I juat prefer it to be subtle.

thoughts?

Re: NEED HELP completing minimalistic pedal board.

Sounds like that's it. You have the modulation that you like. And your amp has drive settings you like.

Re: NEED HELP completing minimalistic pedal board.

So basically, you have no idea what you want or what you need. And, without telling us more than some of the possible gear, you want us to read your mind and guess, including not knowing what music you will play or how the board will be used (Live, recording, just for small board, band practice...)

I vote for a Mooer Trelicopter - for absolutely no sensible reason other than you don't have it!

Now that I got that out of my system....

If chorus does not do it for you, consider an MXR Phase 45.
Also consider a Marshall Regenerator - has a bunch of swirl; Phase, Chorus, Flange, Tremolo, etc....just in case you do need one in a pinch. There are a few multi-modulation pedals that would be very handy.

I mean you have everything BUT that: Tuner, Volume, Comp, Dirt, [missing modulation] Delays(2), Reverb

[EDIT] Hifi simul-posted. Like I said. Tell me what you need to do. Like he said, doesn't sound like you need anything...

Re: NEED HELP completing minimalistic pedal board.

Personally as a Mesa player, I'd want a fuzz (probably muff style) or Tube Screamer to tighten and boost leads.

Barring that, if you want a minimalist board I'd just be done with it as is.

If you don't know what you're missing, then you're probably not missing anything you'll use a lot.

And since when did having 5 pedals, having plans on a 6th and looking for suggestions for a 7th mean minimalist?

Either way.... if you're looking for something to round out your big board then try a Phase 90.

Re: NEED HELP completing minimalistic pedal board.

Sounds like an awesome setup. Get that Carbon Copy, & add a solid modulation pedal. For modulation, more so than a multi-effector, I like a simple flanger or phaser which I can tweak for multiple puropses. Boss & MXR are my top recommendations for both flanger & phaser.

Re: NEED HELP completing minimalistic pedal board.

i do like having some modulation. never could find the right one though. i think i may have found what im looking for. unfortunately its a 240$ pedal ha.

alexander waveland which is a chorus phaser and tremolo.

to clarify more, i use gibson lp, mesa stiletto. i may hold off on 2 delays, so will really only have 3 pedals (not counting volume pedal or tuner as pedals). id say thats pretty minimalistic.

itd be something like this

tuner
volume pedal
cusack tme delay (until i can sell it for a carbon copy)
alexander waveland (chorus, phaser, tremolo)
neunaber seraphim (shimmer, reverb)
channel switcher (boost)

is that a serup i can get away with copying 90 of tones with?

Re: NEED HELP completing minimalistic pedal board.

Dude - a couple of things: #1 a $250 Chorus/Phase/Trem is ridiculous.

#2 You won't come CLOSE to copying 90% of "tones" with that unless you really want to spend some time tweeting to get a tone, then dropping to one knee and tweeting knobs for ten minutes to get the next!

And your choices make your "I don't want a $500 pedal" seem a bit odd.

You want a minimalist pedal board? I play with a 4 Pedal Mooer board: Black Secret > Pure Boost > Ensemble King > Reecho. THAT is fracking "minimalist". I CAN set that up for any deal from Blues to Brutalz.

Minimalist? That would be a Tuner, a Tube screamer and the Carbon copy.
It sounds like what you want is flexible. THAT would be a digitech RP 250 using only ambience settings in the loop.

You are slowly but surely putting a string of the 8-9 most common effects together.

Tuner
Volume
Comp
Delay
Delay
Reverb
+????

Nothing minimal about it.

Re: NEED HELP completing minimalistic pedal board.

ace, im guessing in yoir eyes minimalist means no pedals then? im only running 3 excluding tuner. dont comsider tuner a pedal as it doesnt add to sound.

i dont play metal either. sure i can play digitech to get multiple efx, but i can also place magnets all over my guitar and amp and still sound the same ha.

yes im only going for a very small, yet practical, yet versatile board which can be minimalistic. sure, it may have several efx but if i can achieve that thru 3 pedals isnt that still considered minimalistic?

Re: NEED HELP completing minimalistic pedal board.

check out the airis effects doomsday over the Carbon Copy, I sold my carbon copy to get one, it's similar to the carbon copy but much more versatile and usable imo

Well - IMO a pedal is a pedal

But...

You are saying "give me lots of tones with THREE pedals (besides Vol/Tuner)?"

I'll get back on this....And you don't need presets? You just want to be able to copy whatever sound you seek. Correct?

Re: NEED HELP completing minimalistic pedal board.

no presets. all the 3 efx pedals are stomp box format. neunaber you hold button down for 2 secondds to switch from shimmer to reverb. waveland has a switch.

Re: NEED HELP completing minimalistic pedal board.

A Line6 M5 gets lots of great sounds in a small box, 1 effect at a time. I use an M9, but the M5 is tiny and has the same effects, from bread and butter stuff to way out there special effects stuff. Use it as your wildcard.

Re: NEED HELP completing minimalistic pedal board.

I'm a tremolo nut, so I'll say tremolo. But that's just me. Phaser/uni-vibe or chorus/vibe would also be a nice add.

Re: NEED HELP completing minimalistic pedal board.

TC Electronics Dreamscape? Its got chorus, flanger, and vibrato

Honestly, I had it and sold it. Chorus and flange were decent. That's why I was thinking the Alexander Waveland which is chorus/phaser/tremolo (more useable efx for me)

Re: NEED HELP completing minimalistic pedal board.

TC Nova Modulator for modulation needs make work. I tried one years ago, not sure if its discontinued now but you might find a used one. I remember it sounding good.

I have a phaser on my little board, there is a new phase 90 out with a small switch i think that might work for ya, for something subtle.

Re: NEED HELP completing minimalistic pedal board.

Try the new boss analog delay dm-2 instead of the mxr carbon. It is a much quieter delay that keeps your initial tone much clearer. It also has double the delay time. Great unit.

plus one to the suggestion of tremolo too.
