Need Help with "JOE WILSON" Tele Wiring

I'm really interested in doing this wiring (http://www.seymourduncan.com/website/support/techtips.shtml). I have a Little 59' bridge and a vintage stack in the neck. Right now, it's just wired standard.

So, I need a 4 pole/5 way switch and a push/pull pot.

Questions:

1. Is this wiring possible with the little 59'/vintage stack combo (in other words, is there any special adjustments i'd have to make)?

2. I'm a little confused about the schematic (http://www.seymourduncan.com/website/support/fall98.shtml) since it's only in black and white; both of my pickups have 4 conducter cables (which cables would stay connected to each other on the neck pickup and which color cables for the bridge go to the switch?) - i just want to be confident in everything before I start.

3. So is the 1 position the bridge p/up tapped?

I think that's most of my questions for right now.

Thanks for all your help!

My guess is that you need to run your red and white wires to the point of the switch where you need to split the humbucker.

One thing to keep in mind, you're substituting the "split" function of a single-sized 'bucker, for a "tapped" single-coil. The sound difference may be dramatic - (from the original intent of the wiring.) I think it was Lew, who said, earlier today, that he didn't care for the "split" sound of a small humbucker.

Its something to think about. Other than that, it is do-able.

Now, if you could the "Spin-A-Split" wiring, you could govern how much of the pickup is actually split. I agree with ArtieToo. Small humbuckers, IMHO, don't split well.

Thanks for your replies!

Based on what you saying I think I may try the "Deaf Eddie" wiring (http://deaf-eddie.net/guitars/5-tone.html).

Also, that will keep me from having to get a push/pull pot. Ultimately, I just want a little more versatility out of the Tele anyway. And a lot of people have said the parallel/out of phase option isn't a very practical sound - that would pretty much be the only option I would lose, that's ok with me.

Re: Need Help with "JOE WILSON" Tele Wiring

Ok, I think I have another concern.

They say to cut the bare wire and ground to the pickup cover. I'm thinking I can skip that step since I have a Vintage Stack p/up with the 4-conducter cable - and the green and bare wire (that is connected to the cover) is soldered to ground. Is that correct?

Thanks for all you help!
