Need help with wiring, please.

Okay I want to learn to play electric guitar, so I bought a used ibanez stagestar for $50. I was cleaning it before I plugged it in and took it apart to find this. The wire from the pickup (the dual one) is not soldered anywhere. From what I can tell from diagrams, the bare wire gets soldered onto the back of the volume pot as a ground wire, and the white covered wire gets soldered onto the 5 way switch. Is that correct? I want to make sure I have it soldered correctly before I plug it in. Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

You are correct. White wire to selector switch. Bare wire to ground.

A photograph of your selector switch contacts would help in identifying exactly which terminal lug is the correct one.

Great thanks. Heres a picture of the switch. I'm pretty sure the wire goes on the one on the far left and the three on the right get left open, right?

Okay I got it all soldered up. Now just waiting for my guitar - to- amp cable to come in the mail so I can try it out.
