Re: Need info on Fender Blues Junior Amps....

The Blues Jr. is a good little amp, but for about the same money I like the Crate V1512 part of their V-Series amps far better. It is not as "boxy" sounding as the Fender and it has better, fuller OD tone. I see the V15 for under $300 used and as low as 399 new.

The reverb is not that great on either amp. If you need good reverb go for the Reverend Goblin 15/5. The Rev uses 6V6s and a 10" Reverend speaker, has 3 pre-amp voicings, a master volume, has lucious tube-driven reverb and a 5-watt low power mode.

Mine's up on eBay now. I really like the amp but I need something louder for gigging. It is GREAT for a small Jam or low volume or recording. Mine is DEAD quiet and has none of the reverb issues I have heard reported. JJ's make a big difference as did a Weber Blue Dog (also on eBay now). It's a good amp - wish I could keep it.

Re: Need info on Fender Blues Junior Amps....

i played one a few months ago now at a guitar center and was blown away by it, it had a reissue jensen speaker and was covered in a reliced tweed. i didn't check out the insides but it could not have had the normal groove tubes in it. sounded great and looked really cool too.

Phenomenal little amps. I have heard them with a JBL D120F and the Celestion Alnico Blue, and they rock. Spending $50-$70 to change the tube is a huge help, too.

The Alnico Blue was disgustingly nice in that amp - very clean and 3D. The D120F had a great "Southbound" type tone when dimed. If you want a cheap Allman Brothers fix, get a Blues Jr. and a JBL D120F.
