Need pickups for incoming Godin SD 22

I've got a barely used Godin SD22 arriving today. Its a maple/poplar body, 24.75" maple neck/fretboard, HSS with a trem. I'm thinking to try a C/59 along with a pair of SSL-4 or SSL-6.

Looking for a hard hitting sound, but not anywhere near sterile. Any thoughts on this setup, or other ideas?

I'd wait a few weeks after you get it...it might have some tonal eccentricities you have to correct (or not).

Or, you might even like it the way it is!

Always live with stock a couple of weeks.

Funny, I picked a used Godin Exit 22 during Christmas just to put a set of EMG 60/S/S I already had into her. I don't know if it's because of the 24.75" scale or the mahogany body or the maple fretboard or the hardtail bridge or the 11-48 strings but man this guitar is a bomb (those Godin Exit 22 are totally incredible), very responsive, way better than the superstrat (alder body, 25.5" scale, rosewood fretboard, Kahler trem) those EMG where in and really not the sound one will associate to EMG pickups. From blues/jazz/classic rock/hard rock, I can play everything (up to my talent though) just riding the volume knob. Really surprised.

I hope you'll like your Godin as much as I do.

Didn't had the Godin pickups long enough to give it full justice (see my reply above), but I thought they weren't bad at all.

I had an exit 22 before, so I had an idea what to expect with the pickups. Guitar just arrived in tip top condition. To Mincer's point I won't rip the stock pickups right out but they have to go... soon. They are typical of the hotter ceramics you'd find in many guitars at this level.

So so let's hear your ideas ..
