Need schecter facts...

Hey everyone, I need to hear from you Schecter C1 players...

I walked in to one of the local music stores and there it was.. a brand new Schecter C1 Elite in white with chrome hardware and all the inlays....MAN what a beautiful guitar!!! Played real nice to...

Question, I've heard different info on what woods are in the guitar, is the body mahagony with a carved maple cap or just mahagony?? also is the neck wood mahagony or maple? I can't get on the Schecter website to get the scoop and other sites are vague. In addition, if you could tell me you opinions on the hardware that would be helpful as well.

I was just about to order some parts from Warmoth and build a guitar, but this guitar had just about all I wanted soooo... and for $600 heck its cheaper than building one! Let me know all you can about these guitars, I very well may be putting it on layaway.

Thanks to all!

Scott.

Re: Need schecter facts...

On my C1+, the body is mahogany w/ maple cap, mahogany neck, rosewood board. I've had it for about 5 years now and the hardware is doing great. It came from the factory with plastic pickup mounting rings, and I chipped a corner off the neck ring with my pick after a while, but I replaced them with metal rings and haven't had a problem. It's been a great guitar, never given me a problem and it's been through a LOT.

Right now it's a C5/Jazz setup, but I'll soon be trying a set of PGs to see how I like them :).

I have a c-1 elite, and it does indeed have a quilted maple top.

Under a solid finish?

EDIT: I get it, I looked on Schecter's site and the transparent amber model DOES have the maple top, but the black and white ones are just mahogany. I was all confuzzled for a bit.

Re: Need schecter facts...

Yea, I wondered if the solid color would be all mahagony, any of you heard any of the all mahagony Schecters? would the be really dark? I've never owned one before so I'm not sure of the sound charactorsistics...

Re: Need schecter facts...

Yeah, mine is amber. I tried a blackjack at guitar center(basically the same thing as a black c-1) and it had a very warm smooth tone- mine is brighter and snappier but still quite warm, so I guess either sounds good.

Re: Need schecter facts...

An all mahogany guitar would sound just fine, probably be a fantastic match for a "brighter" sounding pickup like the JB...

Re: Need schecter facts...

Many of Schecter's current offerings come stock with real USA Duncans. Usually a JB/'59 or JB/Jazz set.

Re: Need schecter facts...

That's the new damien series. Blegh, what a waste of tone. FYI the c-1 elite doesn't come stock with duncans. But the classic does, as does the blackjack.
