Need some suggestions

I have a washburn 335 style instrument that I have currently tried Gibson 57's and currently have 2 Duncan antiquities pu's in it. I've previously tried a SD Jazz in the neck) I just don't find any "character" to either of these pickups. (I'm primarily refering to the neck pu).

I guess I'm looking for something more with a pronouced tone (maybe more of an "awe" sound). I'm thinking about trying a alnico pro II.

Listening to the sound samples on this site I honestly can't here much difference between any of them.

Any thoughts?

What bands do you like the tone of so we can get an idea of what you may be after exactly and is there a certain output level you are looking for?
