Need some URGENT help from Texas ! Houston area (Jeff Seal related)

Re: Need some URGENT help from Texas ! Houston area (Jeff Seal related)

I just want to make a point one more time.... a lot of us have been here a LONG time. Have any of you ever had a similiar experience with Jeff? It is true I like the guy, but I like most of you a lot too. If someone came along and started calling you out, and it had never happened before *ever*, I'd take a similar stance of 'wait and see".

I"m not questioning V!N's reputation either. He's very much emotionally invested. That can skew outlooks sometimes. I'd appreciate it if all you guys didn't judge, jury and convict someone until he gets a chance to say his side.

I'm moving it to the Trading Post section. If any of you know how to get in touch with Jeff, have him email me a response and I'll add it to the thread and make a point to let every one know. Or have him respond directly.

I was going to close this thread, but decided to just let it play out. Try not to convict too quickly. :)

^^oh sorry i misunderstand it!I thought it was his amp in the car!
Well dude ,...i am feeling better now.
Take it easy man!You will find another one..There is a guy in Dusseldorf i think. He is modding Marshalls ,and my Bandmate is getting his 900 modded now.Should i give you his number?

Re: Need some URGENT help from Texas ! Houston area (Jeff Seal related)

Please guys, all I want is a good ole' Tex that could help me out. I just explained my situation as a "who can go to the police to pick up a package"-thread might be a bit odd.

Re: Need some URGENT help from Texas ! Houston area (Jeff Seal related)

Scott, can this please be in the Sound Room again ? There are a lot more readers, posters and potential helpers there than here.

Dude, I'd be happy as hell to help if I thought there was a snowball's chance in hell it was there. I'm telling that the wrecker drivers and the guys at the impound lot stole anything of value in that car the day it was impounded. I'm sure in the netherlands you guys probably dont' have as much of this stupid type of crime, but here in Houston, I'm promising you it's gone. They even stole the flashlight out of my car when it got impounded.

Re: Need some URGENT help from Texas ! Houston area (Jeff Seal related)

Scott's right, anything remotely of value would most likely be gone. It's been sitting there for a while.

Still worth a call at least, or something.

It is about a trade or deal gone bad. In the process, whether or not you meant to, you have started to tarnish a good guy's reputation. This is where we put threads about deals gone bad. I'd love to see what Jeff has to say about all this.

I know you're disappointed, but if you really think anyone is giong to first of all get into the impound lot and then secondly actually find anything of value, you are just mistaken.

Re: Need some URGENT help from Texas ! Houston area (Jeff Seal related)

I cant believe all the people giving Vin crap. I like Jeff as much as anyone on here, and he's the guy who gave me the courage to build my own amp, but how can anyone be giving vin sh*t like "oh well tough luck buddy". Vin's a good guy himself, I can attest to that. uberLAME guys. uberfreakinglame.

You are entitled to your opinion. But, it comes with the territory. I agree V!N is a good guy. I"m saying at the very least give Jeff the benefit of the doubt until he has something to say. I'm pretty suprised by the entire thing.

Realtiy is that he is never going to see it. It is time to move on.

Re: Need some URGENT help from Texas ! Houston area (Jeff Seal related)

+1 to Joe. I'd be so bummed, it's not even funny. I'd have done some things differently, but that doesn't really matter.

Also +1 to Scott in that Jeff's rep shouldn't be hurt by this (yet at least), and that he has very little chance of ever seeing it.

Re: Need some URGENT help from Texas ! Houston area (Jeff Seal related)

If Jeff Seal screwed V!N over, we'd all like to know about it. That would not be cool. In fact, why not just make him another board. It can't be that hard. I'd just like to give the man a chance to answer for himself before we all nail him to the cross.

I'm really sorry this happened, but the board in teh car is unobtainable.

Re: Need some URGENT help from Texas ! Houston area (Jeff Seal related)

You should get a response soon, Vin. Jeff Seal was online today.

Re: Need some URGENT help from Texas ! Houston area (Jeff Seal related)

Wow V!n, that sounds like some serious dissapointment, but IMHO, I also sense some lofty expectations, and maybe some miscommunication.

In all honesty bro', I sympathize with you a lot, this has got to suck hard for you, and I'm no geography expert, I'm not even good with maps, but here stateside, with a business like an impound place, it's a breeding ground for unsavory things, and like the other bro's have said, if there was anything of remote value in Jeffs car, it's probably gone by now.

I'm not terribly familiar with this Jeff Seal guy either, I assume he's a professional amp modder like the Voodoo guy, or something? With a profile like that, I would think he'd be easy to get a hold of? At any rate, just from what I've read so far, I wouldn't give up, especially after three years of waiting, but in the end, I think your gonna' have to take it in the shorts, and call it a life lesson.

OTOH, I think a response from Mr. Seal is necessary.

Re: Need some URGENT help from Texas ! Houston area (Jeff Seal related)

Fellas, last I heard was that Seal was overwhelmed with work because he took on repairs for GC, and in the Houston area that's a lot of gear. He's probably uber busy.

V!N, this is an uncool situation no matter how ya slice it for sure. And now you have your hopes up b/c you're expecting a free board/parts at this point, so you really don't want to go to anyone else and I understand that. However, if you want your amp fixed/upgraded the thing to do is to move on and get it done by someone else; Jeff has told you that it's not going to work out for whatever reason so just try to take it in stride.

I didnt mean to come off as trying to crucify Jeff. I mean no disrespect to Jeff whatsoever. I'm as surprised as you are. the only thing I think is kind of out of line at this point is telling V!N to get some dijon mustard... that may very well be the truth that he's going to have to eat the cost, but that's a bit brutal for a guy who patiently waited 3 years for something like that. I was expecting us to be a little more supportive and a little less "tough luck, live and learn" within the first 10-20 posts of something like this.

of course, no disrespect meant. carry on :smack:

Re: Need some URGENT help from Texas ! Houston area (Jeff Seal related)

I sympathize, dude. Really, I do. There are a few things though.

1. It was a mistake to assume that a split channel 800 would sound like the single channel 800. That's just not the case as you found out at the beginning. Sorry, but homework should have been done to begin with.

2. A verbal agreement was made, no signed contract, no money exchanged (as I understand it).

3. You waited 3 years? Bro, why? I know he was helping you out but 3 years? Come on, that's nuts. If it were me, I would have moved on after 6 months.

4. Like said, there's nothing left in that car. Heck, the radio may even be gone.

I'm curious what Jeff has to say as well. Since he took on the GC contract, I can only imagine what his workload is like. And it's not just Houston GC's, it's the entire state. There's 6 in the DFW area alone.

Unfortunately V!N, they're probably right, I don't think there is much I could do to help you.

Re: Need some URGENT help from Texas ! Houston area (Jeff Seal related)

Listen, I may have been the first member on the board to take a chance and have Jeff Seal mod my 2205. My transaction was very smooth. There were a few delays, but nothing outrageous, and Jeff communicated throughout all of them. He also gave me a hell of a deal.

I almost hate to even mention this because it can be taken the wrong way, but I will in the interest of being honest. After about 6 months or so, I started having a white noise type of problem on the gain channel that wasn't there before. The clean channel is quite as a mouse fart, and so was the gain channel. Then it started picking up radio interference. I had contacted Jeff to see what he thought, and he gave me some advice, including taking the amp to Scott Splawn out here in NC. He didn't come out and say it, but I got the impression that he wasn't really interested in working on the amp again, even if I was willing to pay.

This could have been for ANY NUMBER of reasons, and it is IN NO WAY meant to impune his reputation. Everyone please remember that he lost his father this year, has a boat load of work that is keeping him from gigging, playing and building amps. This is not an excuse for not communicating well with Vin or anyone, but put yourself in his situation for just a minute.

I in no way doubt the accuracy of Vin's account of this situation. We need to hear the other side to determine what is what. Whenever there is a disagreement, the truth USUALLY lies somewhere in the middle.

Vin, if you have sent money to Jeff, and not received parts....he owe's you a refund and an apology. If he has strung you along with good intentions, and has offered to give you something for free...shame on him, but he really OWE's you nothing. I feel for you having to rent equipment, but if it were me, after a few times, I would have called BS and stopped wasting my money.

So, if you sent $$ and Jeff accepted, you are owed something. If not, you are probably out of luck unfortunely.

Re: Need some URGENT help from Texas ! Houston area (Jeff Seal related)

Whoa!!!!.....hold on here..... I do NOT have V!N's amp or any money from him. I tried to make him a three channel module that would bolt in, but space limitations wouldn't permit it with the small chassis JCM800, so after awhile, we finally decided on just a two-channel design that I did agree I would send to V!N for free!...(since the original plan didn't work out after trying for years... I tried!)

Apparently, since shipping the amp here was too "cost prohibitive" on V!N's part, I'm left trying to make something that will work sight unseen in an amp chassis... ( nobody has ever even attempted to try this before, and it still has yet to be done.... I'm gonna do it though!) I have stated to V!N 3 times now that this was not realistically going to work and he should make other plans, every time I get the same response.... "I've been patient this far" (my translation... "you owe me") same story here.....so we pressed on!

I had completed what should have worked, but it never got shipped...due to various reasons, and I'm not entirely "innocent" here...:blackeye:

The car which houses that package is not in my name, so I'm helpless to even try to get it out of impound...

What I can do is to make another module (it's not a board, it's a PTP module), so far I'm out $600 on this deal, and it's gonna be another $300 to "keep my word"....so be it!

V!N's a nice guy, and I have no intentions of letting him down... may be a bit longer, but it's free..

Jeff Seal

Jeff Seal,

Thanks for the response. I wish you had not deleted the other one, but that is sure your call. It sounds like what you have been attempting is damn near impossible. Very unrealistic for a guy with my skills. Probably not so unrealistic with your skills. But, if it was me, I'd be done with it all and cut my losses.

Thanks for clearing it up.
