Need some URGENT help from Texas ! Houston area (Jeff Seal related)

Re: Need some URGENT help from Texas ! Houston area (Jeff Seal related)

Jeff-

I hope you took the time to read my my whole post, and take it IN CONTEXT.

I sincerely hope that you did not take my post the wrong way, because that is not the way I meant it at all. I simply got the impression that at the time I was looking to have some work done on it, you didn't have the time for whatever reason...and it was not really that big of a deal. The noise is really a minor problem at this point in my life. I know that if something MAJOR went wrong you would take care of it, or at least do everything within your power.

That's why I said in my earlier post for everyone to remember that you have had a lot going on this year with your father passing and the work you have taken on.

You have always been a stand up guy, and I consider you a friend. If my post came across any other way than that, I apologize. I have ALWAYS raved about your mods and work on the board whenever appropriate, and hope in some small way that has helped generate additional leads for you.

I wish you all the best, and if i offended in any way, please accept my apology.

I almost hate to even mention this because it can be taken the wrong way,

This could have been for ANY NUMBER of reasons, and it is IN NO WAY meant to impune his reputation. Everyone please remember that he lost his father this year, has a boat load of work that is keeping him from gigging, playing and building amps. This is not an excuse for not communicating well with Vin or anyone, but put yourself in his situation for just a minute.

I in no way doubt the accuracy of Vin's account of this situation. We need to hear the other side to determine what is what. Whenever there is a disagreement, the truth USUALLY lies somewhere in the middle.

Vin, if you have sent money to Jeff, and not received parts....he owe's you a refund and an apology. If he has strung you along with good intentions, and has offered to give you something for free...shame on him, but he really OWE's you nothing. I feel for you having to rent equipment, but if it were me, after a few times, I would have called BS and stopped wasting my money.

So, if you sent $$ and Jeff accepted, you are owed something. If not, you are probably out of luck unfortunely.

It sounds to me that V!N and Jeff are in a mutually futile business relationship. I don't think it's fair to Jeff to be chained to a "free" project that cannot work, or will be so time-consuming to complete, that it costs him time, money and lost revenue by not handling other customers.

V!N, I doubt that this amp design-whatever it is-will be the last word in guitar amplification. I would seek out a tried and true design and buy it-there are tons of great circuits and amp mods available for you and I know you'd love any number of them (cranked thru a 4-12:smokin: )

ceriatone.com
18watt.com
celticamps.com
s2amps.com
or another version of an amp that Jeff can make for you that works.

I think it's time to shake on it and move on. That would be the gentlemanly thing for both to do.

So...let me get this straight...

You had the amp there...yet you STILL spent that much money renting other amps?

You paid no money for the board or box, yet you feel obligated to its delivery? And obligated enough to come in and **** all over someones reputation?

...and he's willing to put in another $300 to bring the grand total for his expenses to just under a thousand on his part?

On the original topic, I think Jeff Seal's post clears things up. It sounds like he was attempting a damn hard task to help out a forum bro. This is a case of Jeff being the really good guy that he is. It's too bad the situation has developed into what it is.

I've been thinking this a long time now, and I've been rejecting a lot of ideas as of late, but I think I've learned a valuable lesson. I'm going to continue to make amps that I like to play and reject those ideas that just dont' appeal to me.

I am geeked up with a few things that I've recently committed to. But, people continue to hit me up for high gain or channel switchers or rack stuff... ain't gonna do it.

I'm not a wizard like Jeff. I do what the tried and true stuff.

It's obvious that your success has been the result of doing what you know. And from what I have heard, you know how to do it damned well.

Don't get roped in to doing things you don't want to. This is your business and you're doing it for the love of making great gear. Don't let someone else force you into getting into things you just don't care about. That'd extract all the joy from it.

No worries. No one forces me to build anything I dont' want to. In fact, if it wasn't for a certain forum member in Florida, I'd likely have never built a JTM45 style amp. So, you just never know how it's going to work out.

I really feel for both Vin and Jeff on this. Its a shame they didn't just call it off a year ago. I honestly cannot imagine building something like that and shipping it halfway around the world to have installed on an amp I've never laid hands on. You gotta have mad skills to pull that off. And, the guy receiving it better have some mad skills to install it. The likelihood for success is incredibly low. In my mind. so low as a positive outcome was unrealistic.

Yeah. This situation calls for uber good skills on both ends as it's gotta be built, but it also has to be installed! Like another forum bro pointed out, there's some great European modders out there who you could take it to and in that situation you could take your amp to them so they can go the full distance and install it in your amp for you as well.

I'm sorry for you both.

Re: Need some URGENT help from Texas ! Houston area (Jeff Seal related)

Remember, no matter how difficult it may seem, the thing was acturally DONE and READY to be shipped to me since May '06.

Money was never any issue on my part, I accepted his offer but told Jeff I really wouldn't mind paying. Whenever Jeff was out of parts or money to buy more or money to pay for the shipping. I always offered to send money, send the UPS guy to pick it up at a convinient time or find another sollution.

As for "having the amp", it was gutted donor chassis soon after I got it. I've been getting new deadlines every couple of weeks or tell Jeff to wait whenever something bad happened to the man and thought: "Oh well, what's another couple of weeks for the amp of my dreams".

I simply never stopped believing in the man and I won't do that now.
